Last point in the Quick Hits:

Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley has been training with the team since camp kicked off on May 11 in Cary. The U-17 residency alumni will dress for all three of the Send-Off Series matches.

I raised the question in the pre-match thread for tomorrow, but I feel it warrants it's own thread:

What purpose does Bradley serve for the friendlies?

I'm honestly unsure, but perhaps its in the event a player gets a minor knock. Bruce rests the player as a precautionary measure and doesn't risk a roster spot by having Bradley play. Maybe?

Why not give him a cap to reward him for all his hard work in camp?

Maybe it's a courtesy to the kid for busting his hump the last two weeks.

a nice reward for the kid. Wonder if he becomes our official mascot in Germany and trains with the side there to?

And a paycheck as well, don't forget.

Although I'm sure he's making good money in Holland, with the minimum foriegner salary.

A cap would be something to reward him with definitely. And by all accounts, he's held his own in camp, so another player goes down...you never know.

Say What?

Just to send this thread spinning out of control but -

Couldn't we have been doing more of this with very young promising players for the last four years or so?

Just give guys a taste and see how they do stuff. Even if he isn't ready it is a great eye opener, and let's them know what has to be done. Also, gives them a taste and makes them hungrier and more comfortable.

Also, you just might find a kid, whom you didn't expect, to actually contribute and fit right in.
Hey, you never know.

Oh well. Too late now, but I don't see why this can't be done more. Has been done a bit, but needs to be done more is all I am saying.

Let the spiral out of control begin.:D

 Um - I really hope Bruce doesn't cap any non-roster players right now.

Cause we want to focus on the players who will be playing in Germany?

No shit - anyone who thinks that this is the time to "reward a player for being a good guy/team player" is watching their first World Cup...

I truly doubt he would play even a minute over any of the guys going to Germany, but it's possible. Him getting to dress is most likely a thank you for working so hard in camp, there's not much chance of him seeing the field from anywhere other than the bench.

He won't play it's just a formality. since everyone at camp is dressing he will as well, there's no reason he shouldn't. He won't play, please don't read any more into it.

Ditto. I'd love to see Bradley do well for the nats but not right now. Given all the team-building talk, playing a guy who ain't on the cup roster is a little bizarro.

Absolutely. This is beyond understanding when Arena said he would not bring any NEW players on the WC mix. Now, Bob's kid is getting suited in the SEND OFF matches. Wha...da..? Whatever Bruce. You got guys like who need PT together.

Really.....who cares. If he sees the field, then you can complain. Until then, it's pretty mcuh a non-issue.

Would anyone seriously be THAT concerned if he played the last five minutes of a game we're up 5-0 or something?

A cap doesn't have to be 90 minutes for the guy, ya know. What is wrong with a little sentimentality and a symbolic "thank you" for his helping the team? I doubt it'll happen either way, but still.
