So we are faced with another season in the Championship which begins August 2nd. This next year will be tough with some big big clubs in the Championship including Birmingham, Sunderland, Palace, Wolves, West Brom, etc. I think those clubs have a lot to sort out in a short period of time. We certainly have work of our to do, but with an additional 1.3m available from the Championship final and a few transfers, I think we are in decent shape. Here's what I think our needs are for each position:

Strikers:
Probably the best position. Stick with Hulse, Healy, Blake, and Cresswell. We need to get rid of Ricketts now. If we were promoted, we would have had to pay Boro 1.8m because of a clause in his contract. If you can get any money for him in a transfer, take it.

Midfield: This is where we need some work. Who knows if Miller or Douglas will be back. If I had to bet on either of them I would say Miller. I don't think he's shown Man U enough with us to make them want to keep him. I think Douglas is out. I also think Bakke needs to go. His wages are still pretty high from what I understand and is always injured. If you can get 1m-2m for him I say take it. Leave Lewis on the left, Derry in a central defensive role, pray that Stone still has something left in the tank and bring in a couple of creative midfielders.

Defense: Killa must stay. Kelly can stay as well. Gregan and Butler are good for now, but eventually we must upgrade. Neither of them are getting younger. Left back and a creative central midfielder are probably our greatest weaknesses right now.

Goalkeepers: No changes. Sully has been great and Bennett is a fine backup.

I think with the 1.3m from the final, 1m-2m from a Bakke transfer, maybe a little extra investment from the outside and Blackie should have the means to fill the holes in this team.

Where do we go from here? Today, I recommend a bar, pub or liquor store.

I think the one major hole on the Leeds squad is an lack of an attacking midfielder. Most of the midfielders are more of a defensive, holding type. Eirik Bakke, Liam Miller, Danny Pugh, Jonathan Douglas and Shaun Derry are all solid defensively, but there's not a lot of offensive creativity there. Eddie Lewis is the only real creative midfielder on the squad.

I almost think you need to look outside of Britian for the answer.

Good article about the club's finances. We are losing our "parachute" payment from the Prem, but we will actually better off financially next season. It's insane to think how much our wage bill will drop after we are done paying off the likes of Fowler, Keane, and Duberry.

My question is, does this mean more money for transfers in the summer?

In other related news, Bakke might actually be stuck with us another year.

I like Ken Bates attitude. Suck it up and let's get on with it. That's the way I kind of feel right now.
