Well - he's a very negative player, but he's been first choice for
Brazil and Juventus as a holding mid for several years for a reason.

It's a bit ironic to me that an English player would be suggested in
the holding role when Sven has only very recently come around to
the idea of using a player like King for that role (but I see King is
not going to make the WC, sadly ....) I mean, Parker over Emerson?

Anyway - using a 4-3-1-2, here's my take:

I have Lampard here as a deep-lying passer, and I know some would
fit Gerrard in, but I think you're in good hands with a mainly Brazilian

1)rooney and gerrard to link the right side. ronny to link the left side.
2)ronaldo to poach goals and play off the last man.
3)emerson to hold and cover centrebacks when they get drawn outwide. i think parker is more waspish but you have to go with emerson here for his pedigree.
4)terry to anchor the back 3/5.
