I have been told by my friend from portugal that ferreira and meira are unlikely to start the first game in the world cup.

he said that it's only a 40% chance for ferreira and 30% for meira.

Can anyone who knows a lot about the portugal team tell me what chance do you think each of them have of being in the first 11. who will play instead if they don't play?

Deco should have never played for Portugal. He's a second class brazilian (bound to lose his place on next year's Barça), with a substandard disciplinary atitude that's preventing true local talent (Tiago, Viana, Mendes, Moutinho, Fernandes) from getting their rightful starts on the NT. Lobbied for by his former club (which has made extra bucks with his new citizenship, as without it Barça would have turned their interest elsewhere) he was welcomed by his compatriot coach in order to comply with the latter's policy of checks and balances within the teams ranks, most notably with the veterans. He's Scolari crutch, the big scarecrow for the misbehaving 'stars'.

Miguel is an average right wing (and in this position he can even play in the forthcoming games) and a run of the mill right full back.

Valente is one of the least talented players in the NT's history, has a record of knee injuries and is absolutely inferior to Caneira.

Angry as hell that he chose Ferreira over Miguel. Even Petit over Costinha makes me fustrated. I had such hopes for this team, so enthusiastic a couple months ago.

Then Andrade went down, Costinha decided to return to Portugal to sling crack in Lisboa. Maniche decided he would look better if he was a little chubbier and had briads.
