I wonder how Convey's eye condition effects his peripheral vision. I'm sure at this point in his life he has learned to compensate for that, but I would imagine that he'd be more comfortable on the left side of the pitch (he's blind in his left eye) compared to the right, seeing as he probably has infinitely better peripheral vision on his right side, and he can see more of the pitch when he's on the left side rather than in the middle or on the right.

At least, I would fear that enough not to experiment with it. In interviews, he described the situation as thinking that he saw a situation clearly when he really did not. That gives me the willies.

He played on the right alot with PSV. Not very impressively IMHO and it was at right forward, which, IMHO is not real similar to the way Arena wants the position played. But most imiportantly, differing eyes can see it differently, but my opinion is that Beasley has not done the job over there and has played a lot better on the left (the latter point has been echoed by BA). Compared to what Dempsey and Reyna can do over there, I don't see why this would be attractive to anyone -- even Convey has more potential over there as he at least has experience playing in the middle of the park. As I just said in my last post, if it was an issue of getting two deserving players both on the field, I would easily take Beasley on the right over a guy who's 85% blind in his left eye.

But I can see the case for this lineup. Reyna and Mastro would be disruptive winning balls in the midfield and if they could play it quickly out wide to Beasley and Dempsey, we could be pretty dangerous on the counter.

The Czechs are VERY potent offensively, but are also VERY prone to the counter and concede a lot of goals. Having all of that speed in the MF could really help us pry the Czechs open if they play their usual attacking style. I am sure we will see the 4-5-1 during the upcoming friendlies, for sure...and I think I am warming to the idea.

I think this depends not only on the MF mix, but how GAM acquits himself these next three games. If he bangs in a shitload of goals, does this option still make sense?
