Some voices and opinions from Czech players before the world cup:
JAROLIM (Hamburg SV, Germany) - "the surprise" in the squad of the Czech Republic from Bruckner
Jarolim thinks that the biggest favorite in the group E is Czech and Italy. However he said that czechs can not forget USA or Ghana and underestimate them. But he said that Czechs need to win against USA to advance in the group. He is optimistic about this.
The success of the czech team will be to reach at least quarter-finale.
His "dream" opponent is Brazil with Ronaldinho. Czech can meet them already in next round. However he said that he wished to meet Brazil not already in round 16.
Logically he thinks that Czech will be or must be first in the group
Jarolim from Hamburg is optimistic:)

TOMAS ROSICKY (Borussia Dortmund, Germany):
"I will be happy to play against Brazil in round 16".
Further he said that Czechs had difficult group, but they will do everything to advance in the group. He wish to repeat the success from the European Cup 2004 where Czechs were one of the best teams of the tournament.
This is what Rosicky thinks about the Group:
Ghana - is unknown for Tomas Rosicky.
USA - he saw USA-Germany game in Dortmund, however USA did not come with his first team, so it is hard to say. But he said that US players are very good and have excellent technics, sence for combination (P.S I don´t understand what he meant???). He said that USA has no "HURRA power style" (also don´t understand what he meant??).
He said that the most important MATCH WILL BE THE FIRST MATCH.
P.S Maybe many of you don´t remember: Czechs did beat every team in the last European Cup 2004 , except this "unhappy" lost to Greece. They had problem to beat Latvia (it was their first match). They won 2:1, but I remember that it was hard match for Czech. So FIRST MATCH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.
He said Italy and Czech are favorite in the group
He also said he was happy Pavel Nedved is back in the czech national team.
He said that Nedved is very important for their team. The whole team is happy that Nedved play in the world cup.

I think what he means by his first comments are that the USA plays very well as a team. This has been pointed out before as people like to compare the USA's style as looking like a club team rather than a National team, because they combine so well together and play a controlled - team oriented game. His second commment is very similar w/ the no 'HURRA power style.' He probably sees USA as controlled in buildup. Many of us are hoping / speculating that this might change and the USA will come out w/ a little more offensive energy, but typically we play a more controlled, developing style, applying a lot of pressure as much as we can.
As far as the Latvia game, I think this may be the MAIN reason we are playing them in one of our send-off friendlies.

BRUCKNER ABOUT THE CZECH SQUAD:
"This squad was created for Euro 2004 in Portugal, with the 2006 World Cup in mind," said coach Karel Bruckner

BAROS was relaxing in DUBAI before he came to Prague and then to SEEFELD in Austria to train for the czech team. He looks very relaxed.
Baros also said about Bruckner: Bruckner said that THE PEAK OF THE SUCCESS of the czech soccer should be not Portugal (where Czechs lost in semi-finale, Euro cup 2004), but GERMANY, world cup.
My Comment: Does it mean that Bruckner actually wants or believe that Czech will play in semi-finale or finale? In Portugal in European cup 2004 they did beat every team, except Greece in semi-finale. I think Bruckner has very
secret strategy and high goals.
Baros wants better THAT CZECHS ARE FIRST IN THE GROUP AND AVOID to PLAY AGAINST BRAZIL (opposite of Rosicky opinion). HE is super optimistic and
motivated.
He said that in the group is no favorite. But he is very confident with czech team. He said that he don´t know Ghana and USA he only saw in Germany: friendly in Dortmund where USA played with "B-team" only. But this is task of Bruckner to take care of opponents and strategy:).

It strikes me that while everyone says the right things in "not underestimating the U.S.," they are all underestimating the U.S.
At this point, anytime I hear "we can't underestimate" or "we're not underestimating," it's a pretty good sign that there is a lot of underestimating going on.
That said, I do believe that everyone is focused on the importance of the first game.

This group could finish:
USA
Czech Republic
Italy
Ghana
The Italian team doesn't have enough toughness for me.

It's too good to be true. I would predict the US finishes second.

:) LOL, you are right, my friend. The US is probably doing the same thing with Ghana.

Some voices and opinions from Czech players before the world cup:
JAROLIM (Hamburg SV, Germany) - "the surprise" in the squad of the Czech Republic from Bruckner ... Jarolim is like the 4th best rated midfielder by Kicker, even ahead of Rosicky.
Anyhow... Jsme favorité na postup, ale Ameriku ani Ghanu nemůžeme podcenit. Amerika už dokázala svojí sílu před čtyřmi lety v Japonsku a Koreji.... My rough translation - 'we're favorites but US and Ghana are capable of an upset. America proved its strength in previous years in Japan/Korea."
He thinks that going to quarters will be considered a success for the Czech Republic (not a pie-in-the-sky type of a guy obviously) and gives credit to his dad, Karl Jarolim, the head coach of Slavia Prague.

I also think USA will be second in the group. The first will be Italy or Czech. Hard to say. But USA second place. My prediction. Of course everything is possible:)
