Lyon is good but they dont get my vote because they havent advanced far enough in Europe.

PSG was a good side but they didnt get to a European Cup final.

Marseille was probably the best talent wise and they made 2 European Cup finals but I cant pick them because of all the controvery surrounding that team with the Taipe business.

Bordeaux was pretty good but again no European Cup final appearance.

St. Etienne I think the mid to late 70's with Platini was better.

So my vote goes to Stade Reims because they made 2 European Cup finals and had one of the greatest French players of all time in Raymond Kopa.

That Bordeaux was the nucleus of the 82 and 84 side iirc. Great side.

St-Etienne in the 70's were the best though. Marseille are tainted too much for me too choose them over Les verts.

Stade Rheims got to two finals and had kopa, plus had to face probably the greatest ever club side in both finals, i would probably rate the highest equal with st Etienne. The st Etienne side almost got to two European cup finals, but also dominated the French league for a longer period. I am also more familiar with the st Etienne players than the other sides, and this is bearing in mind that st Etienne reached their peak before Platini arrived, The OM side was also a great team with many names that we are all familiar with, but because of the allegations about Tapie etc they have to be relegated behind the other two greats, and this is a shame because they still stand as the only French club to win the European cup. I also have to say that i dont rate the PSG side of the nineties too highly, and know little about the Bordeaux of the 80s, so it goes

1=Stade Rheims
1=St Etienne
3 OM
4=Bordeaux
4=PSG

The Stade de Reims sides of the 50s were a class team and were only denied in Europe because of Real Madrid. The nearly won it in 1956 but Real caught back. St Etienne in the 70s were very good and had some players who played for France at WC 78 like Rocheteau and Bathenay. PSG of the mid 90s are my personal favourite. It was a quality team with Weah, Ginola, Rai and Loko and were unlucky in the 1995 CL when the lost to Milan in the semi-finals.

My vote goes to OM from 1989-93. They had great players like Desailly, Deschamps (a water-carrier to Cantona :D ), Abedi Pele, Voller, Boksic and Papin, dominated Ligue 1 like no other team before them but unlike Lyon, they actually had a decent record in Europe. The 1993 CL win is very debatable but they were unlucky because in 1988, the lost in the Cup Winners' Cup to Ajax, in 1990 they lost to Benfica in the semi-finals of the European Cup because of a goal that should have been disallowed and they only lost on penalties to Red Star in the 1991 European Cup Final.

my vote for OL can only be justified by saying that the present situation of the club, not just on the in roster, but in organization and finances, can prop up my claim that the best is yet to come.

Sté didn't win 5 straight, but they dominated for more than 10. they, Stade Reims and OM all were in 2 European finals. but before our star fades over the horizon, i think all this will be matched and more.

The Saint-Etienne side from the 70s, even though they didn't win the Europa cup in 76.

There was another good side in late 70s and early 80s that's not in the poll, FC Nantes with Michel, Bossis, Bargas, Burruchaga, etc.

What about Arsenal 1998 -2006. In this time they have reached two finals (uefa 2000 and cl 2006), won 3 league titles and also gone full season unbeaten, gots to be one of the best French sides in history.
