It's just you.

Nah I watched again...Howard made a few good saves but got beat 3 times and was vulnerable to the cross....the goalie at the back Keller - Hanneman? let one rolll right by....It's a lot of goals for three five minute scrimmages

Just trying to bolster the spirits of the other lads, so that they start to believe that we can score goals. The keepers sacrificing for the team.

Nope, looked fine, saw a good bit of skill from Tim imo.

Glad I read ahead before replying with those exact words...

Highlight reels show goals. Goals make goalies look bad. Don't assume too much from highlights. Pedantic enough for you?

The keeper away from the camera is the college goalie, I believe.

I would prefer to judge our GKs based on their club and national team play rather than a few minutes of 6x6 scrimmage on an extremely shortened field.

And do we have a great deal to judge Tim Howard on in the last year???

Jeez OCK, did you forget to take your meds today? What's with the over reaction on one little training vid? Keller had a really good year playing in actual games. He was one of the best keepers in the BL. Hahnemann's team was so good they beat the record for most ever points in CCL history. He couldn't have sucked for that to happen. Howard didn't do much, but he is still employed by one of the biggest clubs in the world. Relax man! Worry about our 2nd forward slot or something if you must.

No, but there are tons upon tons of reviews on Keller (our #1 goalie) that show he is top notch and is in top form. A lot of teams in the WC only wish they could have Howard as their starting goalie, and he doesn't even start for us.

Wait a sec! You may be working entirley in the wrong field. You should be a goalkeeper scout. You were able to judge and assess our keepers by watching a 3 min excerpt from a 3 hour training session. Well done.

Not saying any such thing. Just saying don't get your panties in a wad based on short heavily edited clips. Unless of course you enjoy that sort of thing, then hissy fit away and I'll find something else to do.

A helluva lot more than a few minutes of highlight videos of a 6x6 scrimmage! I saw him play a full 90 against Costa Rica and go 45 against Poland. He also played 3 Carling Cup, 2 FA Cup, and 1 EPL game last season, plus a number of reserve matches. Arena has also seen him camps before the USMNT games mentioned and this camp.

Now since I answered your question, how about you answer mine: was starting a thread entitled "Our Goalies Stink" an hysterical overreaction to a few minutes of highlight videos involving our 2d or 3d string goalie in a scrimmage???

Where are you getting that? They're playing short fields which basically means they spend the whole time in the offensive 3rd taking tons of close range shots and saving about half of them. Half the goals that went in looked like they were deflected.

Keepers looked fine to me. two of the goals shown took deflections and tim nearly got to one of them. I think Johnson hit a nice header near the end of the clips that maybe Tim could have gotten a hand to but it's hard to tell from what we could see.

Marcus was the far side keeper. Keller wasn't in came yet as I understand it. You can hear bruce say his name after one of the saves. I agree with the comment that highlight reals highlight goals so it's hard to judge how effective the keepers were but 6v6 in my experience is a high scoring affair. Short sided fields give strikers a lot more looks at goal and often from a closer distance.

Exactly, Gibbs' goal was deflected and so was Clint's. The worst play was maybe Howard not staying on his line because the cross that EJ scored on was just out of his reach.

I think Howard looked bad on the cross at the end of the clip where johnson burried a header(I haven't watched the clip since it cameout so correct me if I am wrong). But imagine if they were stopping everything that came at em. Would you say the US's finishing was pathetic? I thought Howard looked good on some saves, but the clips are edited to show goals, no one wants to see 5 minutes of Mastro cutting off through balls and Hahneman snagging crosses, you gotta remember that.
