The only Montenegrins on the Serbia - Montenegro world cup team are GK Dragoslav Jevric and FW Mirko Vucinic.

Very true, I don't see any real reasons for Montenegrins to split from Serbia, we are pretty much the same people, same language, same names, same religion. If they split they'd simply become another tiny fleck on the map that no one cares about.

Just like Serbia
This country certainly cared enough about Serbia when the Serbs shot down their precious Stealth Fighter. Serbia have always been able to impose their influence in the Balkans. Siding with Russia and China, both of which have always had good historical relations with, would be a smart thing to do.

Ah yes, Serbia's recent 'influence' in the Balkans. I can't imagine why the people of Montenegro wouldn't want more of that action.

I've heard that if Montenegro becomes independent, they would be the country with the tallest people on average.

Now this is news !!! ;)
Montenegro can have their independance, anyway at some point, the Balkan countries are likely to enter the EU, so...

Just because your knowledge of the world stops a few blocks from your house doesn't mean everyone else's does too.

I have not yet heard the offical word from Bulgaria on this matter. Until they decide what to do this is all hearsay. I hope they do not piss off Bulgaria because I would hate to see them wiped from the face of the Earth.

If this happens, Serbia will be landlocked again.

Apperently 56% support independence going into the polls. The need 55%.
The PM apperently said Serbia might try and interfear, so watch for that.
This is a big deal, even though Montenegro is tiny it could set alot of things into motion. The 55% vote could trigger other independece votes.

I was wondering about that, what kind of trigger effect do you think could happen?

The trigger effect would lead to kosovo albanians continuing their push for independence backed by the UN (I might add that this is something that should never happen considering Kosovo is and always has been a treasured part of Serbia)
Also in the Northern region of Serbia called Vojvodina there is a Croatian and Hungarian minority who have been raising their voices for a few years but their pleas are completely irrational and have not been taken serious by anyone so far.

Possibly the Zapastistas in Chiapas, Mexico.
I can't see them getting 55% to support it, but I wouldn't bet against them trying.
Chechnya is another place.
Also the two places noted above, Kosovo being the one with the highest possibility. I can't see Vojvodina leaving Serbia.

I agree with you about Chechnya but then again the EU might frown upon them since they haven't been that peaceful throughout their independence movement.

I think you people are confusing things a bit. The 55% tally only applies to european countries seeking to redefine their independence via the EU. Frankly though, this requirement is going to hit the fan if at any point an independence vote falls within the 50-55% range, which is very likely in a lot of places.
