Previously on this board there was a discussion about whether or not sponsor tickets would have names on them. I was lucky enough to get some sponsor tickets and was asked to supply name, passport number, and nationality. Today I received the tickets---no names :)
Just: FIFA - Anheuser Busch and a number (not a passport #)
Thought others would like to know...

- TimNo personal details on the chip...it is just a number that when 'read' corresponds to your account (with details) in their database.

agreed. the tickets with numbers but no names is probably the same deal. number/chip is tied to the details in some database of whoever is "supposed" to have those tickets.

Yes, and the data from the database will be downloaded on a monitor screen and the guy will check your name and passport against what he sees. Easy to do!
The RFID chip has just a unique number, but that unique number is the key to all of your data. For that matter, the ticket could have absolutely nothing on it, not even the game number and date, yet they could still know if you're holding a valid ticket for the game you're showing up for.
So they're right, the chip has no personal data, but it links to it.
We'll know more how things go after the Germany - Costa Rica game. Anyone on this forum going? We'll expect a full report from you :)

also agreed. without getting into stuff covered in many other threads, i just think the "spot checking" of the suspicious types quotes from officials are more on target than the quotes saying they will check every last id.
and sure, they even if they went so far as to have some display of passport info at every turnstile, would they have a photograph? probably the most effective thing they would have is birthyear, cuz how do they know a 6 foot 4 guy isn't named "linda"?...:)
my first game isn't until june 12. by that time i suspect we'll have some "security briefings" already:D

I have won two of these sponsor tickets for match 49 (could be England v Germany) using an entry someone gave me for a McDonald's competition. I am using one and I have put my brother's name on the other. He won't be going, so that ticket will be spare. Bearing in mind the previous discussions it is available to anyone who wants to meet me in Germany. I have agreed to pay the person who supplied the entry form the face value of the ticket, but I won't know how much until I receive them in the week before the match. The most it will be is 120 euros.

Do sponsor tickets have a "face value"?
In any case, I think they're all Cat 1s in theory, could be wrong.

...and by the way: you need to swap that spare ticket so you can also get to match 51 the next day.
You know it makes sense :)

First post on here so hi,
Im going to be at the opening game and the england game the following day and am coming home on the 11th so ill post a 'ticket check' update when i get back from there.
Ok, so they have the technology to check every single ticket should they need to, but can you imagine how long it would take to check all those tickets that just have sponsors stuff on - i mean looking up a RFID code then looking up a persons details - you would have chaos.

If you receive 4 tickets with just the sponsor's name on them, how do you know which ticket applies to each person?

Well, it's weird. I ordered through US Soccer and ended up with AB tix for the Czech game.

I have the same question- I have a 4 corporate tickets, no name on them and I will be giving them to some friends with the plan to meet in the stadium. We dont all have mobile phones, so it may not be possible to meet in advance
Anyone know the answer to the originally question (quoted above)?
Much appreciated

dunno about the sponsor tickets, but the ussf tickets (some of which also only have numbers and no names) come with a master printed sheet that lists each numbered ticket in your order. each ticket number is paired up with a name.
they also go to great lengths to say that if you transferred a ussf ticket, that you do NOT have to return the ticket, and you should just give that ticket to whoever you want to transfer it to, of course they want you to fill out the paperwork with the passport info etc.
i think its not a bad bet to say that numbered or sponsor tickets might be kind of a black hole as far as the rules go. even if all the german OC rules can work in theory, in practice its a buncha volunteers or part timers at OC hq or in the field who have to execute and enforce this untried and untested birds nest of rules...

One thing that they need to get a grip on is the fact that 7-8 out of 10 fans turn up with about 30 mins to go.
I can't see them being too stringent on the checks as the games will have to be delayed to let everyone in.
