I was just listening to one of the audio podcasts, and his answer to the question on whether he would consider opportunities overseas was direct. He said he would.

Also, there was a follow up question. He was asked something to the effect of "have you ever had, or do you currently have any offers?". He paused and then said, "Well, I don't have any right now."

Maybe I missed this at some point, but did he have any offers after '02, or since then?

I offered to switch jobs with him, but he turned me down. In retrospect, he made the right call.

don't forget javier aguiire his erstwhile mexican counterpart in 2002, has had a superior season in la liga, taking osasuna to the champions league for next year...

arena can surely manage in europe, and any success by a concacaf coach only helps his case

I'm seriously asking- I think Bruce COULD do very well. Did he actually get any offers or not?

Aguirre is leaving Osasuna and is about to sign on to coach Atletico Madrid.

Even better for CONCACAF coaches.

I noticed that as well. His emphasis was on the words "right now" which would lead one to believe that he has had offers in the past, which wouldn't surprise me. But apparently they weren't good enough to top coaching the Nats, or Bruce just didn't want to leave yet.

Post-WC is going to be a fun spectator sport for Bruce AND our players :)

I agree- I think that with a good enough showing, the EPL or Colaship is in Bruce's crosshairs. Again, that's probably equal parts my take, and my wish, but oh well.

I think if we get out of the group, Arena gets some offers from the Colaship.

The US would likely have to equal 2002 or go beyond what we did then for Bruce to get offers from Premiership teams, and even then I'd say it might not happen.

He'd still be a Yank in charge of a club in England... That wouldn't sit well with a lot of fans, unless maybe he replaced Coleman at Fulham?

glazer should hire him. that ought to go over really well with the manu fans.

Nope, don't think so. Rumor has it that David Moyes (Everton's manager) has been given a pot of money to play with on the transfer market this off season. It is being reported that they are offering 7 million pounds for Andy Johnson, and are considering several other somewhat less expensive acquisitions.

Now if he does go out and spend a wallet full and doesn't get results, well maybe. But not until the end of the 2006-7 season at least.

NFL, no one else plays so that doesn't count. MLB seems to be pretty accepting of foriegn born managers. if redneck boreball can do it, there's no reason England shouldn't accept a Yank manager.

England isn't prejudiced against foreign managers (we have plenty) the only reason Arena wouldn't get a job here is his lack of top-level club experience and lack of knowledge on European football
