They're bringing quite a few Euro-based players.

Should be interesting.

Worth noting that with Arango and the Euros, this is a better Venezuela squad than Mexico faced.

With Arango on the roster, it should be a good test for the centerbacks

Arango finished as Mallorca's top scorer this season, if I'm not mistaken.

I am waiting for someone to start a thread on Marocco game actually (which is supposed to be ahead of Venezuela's game ) but, this is great too.

Hello, I'm from Venezuela and live in the US (can't go to the game).
This team is MUCH better than the one that Mexico played because Venezuela is going to have their 2 best players:

Alejandro Cichero: Central defender that plays in Bulgary and just played in the UEFA Cup.
Juan Arango: Attacking midfielder. One of the best players in La Liga this year (have heard the narrator say that many times)

Cichero is the leader in defense and Arango the leader in attack.

Is Hugo Chavez coming to the game?
I don't think so.
He's not much of a soccer fan, besides, it's not exactly the biggest game ever played by the venezuelan squad.

Ask George Bush to send him an invitation

IIRC, Chavez changed his mind on attending when he heard televangelist Pat Robertson was going to attend the match.

He already turned down an invitation to hunt wabbit with Cheney...why would he do such a thing?

Why the hell would a foreign player go to Bulgaria?

Why the hell would a foreign player go to Bulgaria?
He actually got an offer from Cagliari in Serie A about a year ago, but looks like it didn't work out mainly because of his "manager" or whatever is called.
Then he got an offer from Bulgary and he moved there.

He's younger brother that is going to play in the national team for the 1st time played a few months in Serie A with Lecce.

Say What?

Whenever someone brings up religous nuts and the middle east, this picture should always be shoved in their face.

Pot calling kettle black.

I was thinking the same thing, I was hoping Venezuela would bring him along to test our defense. I've seen him in some La Liga games, and he's a good forward. Other than him, I'm ignorant on other Venezuelan players, but I know he's good.

I understand what you are saying and Pat Robertson is senile, but as a Christian myself, I am frankly embarassed that this man is part of the same faith as me, and I KNOW that alot of other Christians are also. This man does not speak for us. He's just another idiot with a microphone.

That guy should be banned from TV, at least for calling for the assasination of a democratically elected president.

But did you hear the one about Dover, PA that voted against "intelligent design", this is what he said about it:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-11-11-robertson-pa-warning_x.htm
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's 700 Club.

Dumbest quotes (#1 and the 2 bonuses are the ones about Chavez)

OK, BACK TO SOCCER NOW!
