It seems to me that of late a lot of ex-players of those years are starting careers as coaches right now... It seems like a whole generation has had roughly the same idea at the same time.

Portugal: Koeman.

Holland: Van Basten, Gullit.

Denmark: Laudrup.

Italy: Ancelotti.

Spain: Rijkaard, Schuster, Quique Sanchez, Michel, Abel Resino.

Mexico: Hugo Sanchez.

Do you know others?

Ummm, it's the way things work. Players go on to be managers.

In the Premiership this season you had

Martin Jol
Mark Hughes
Glenn Roeder
Sam Allardyce
Paul Jewell
Chris Coleman
David Moyes
Alan Curbishley
Steve McClaren
Stuart Pearce
Steve Bruce
Bryan Robson
Mick McCarthy

all of whom played in the 80s or 90s.

Yeah, but I didn't think so many of them from that particular era would do it, I dunno.

he left...

Do u all think a lot of this era's players will become coaches? I jus felt that a lot of those guys are in it because they didnt make a lot of money... now players are making millions... maybe 3rd or 4th division players... but not superstars... u have superstars from that era managing now... tht wont happen in 10 years in my opinion

Yeah, who'd have thought that ex-players would become coaches in their 40s?

It might be a bit different going forward given the amount of money mediocre players can make these days. Whereas 20 years ago your average top flight player would have often needed to work after retiring from playing, a similar player today will more than likely not need to financially. Whether as many will have the motivation remains to be seen.

Some of them will be bored staying at home and want to be a part of a team after retirement.

No he is not. He left citing home sickness or something like that.

From Brazil:
- Zico is coaching Japan.
- Leao (goalie) is coaching in Brazil (he coached the NT for a short period).

I dont know if "a lot", but some current players have already stated that they want to coach - Roberto Carlos, for example. And he is certainly not thinking about the money.

Some have even become coaches in youth academies. Alberigo Evani, for example, coaches the Milan Under-17 youth squad. Stefano Eranio coaches the U-14 Milan youth team. Fillipo Galli is Baresi's assistant for the Primavera Squad. Sebastiano Rossi will be Milan's goalkeeping coach next year.
