I never really knew. Some people are just jumping on a bandwagon they thought would make them look cool or something.

ANYHOW,

RENE MUELENSTEEN, FOR SIR ALEX FERGUSON'S NEW NUMBER 2.

Why do people want him out?

Because a lot of people seem to blame him for overly defensive tactics that we used for a couple of seasons, including the 4-5-1 which was actually concocted by Fergie before Queiroz ever joined the club. It's also ironic because when Rio was suspended, our defense was in shambles, and Carlos was coaching the travelling circus known as Real Madrid, everyone was calling for him to come back since we'd won the league the year he joined.

Also we started playing negatively the season he left the club.

Queiroz has also been in a few spats with high profile players IIRC

Martin O'neil???

EDIT: On the Benfica boards they are saying the new coach is set Fernando Santos. They have links but all in Portuguese.

People give this guy a hard time, and I'm not TOO sure why. Have we forgotten that he's won the title with us once before?

When you consider the 04-05 season, it was the worst in my lifetime as a red, or, the lifetime I remember anyway. Still, there was a period from around December-Feb where we played 433, with Ruud injured, and Giggs, Rooney and Ronaldo up front. It was our most successful time of the whole season.

Yet still, we have a rubbish end to the season, and the new one begins. People say Carlos was behind the 433 of the start of this season (I'm not too sure WHY all the blame goes to Carlos, considering Fergie is the manager and wouldnt allowed Carlos to do anything he didnt agree with, but anyhoo) and we didnt do well. Piled on top of that was all our injuries, but regardless, we looked dull and uninspired when playing 433, so they changed back.

Are we really having a go at this man because he TRIED something different? 442 of the season before got us 3rd and trophyless, so he wanted to see if we could be successful playing a different style. If it HAD worked, we'd all be singing his praises. But it didnt, so we changed back, and with him as number 2, had a good season, after as a disastrous start.

So going back to the original point, I DO wonder why Carlos gets so much stick. Anyone...?

Either do a search or ask Keane.

So you dont have a single response to anything I said? Other than the insightful "he's a twat" comment?

Someone having a bust up with Keane isnt the mark of a twat. Keane could argue with just about anyone.

Why why why why René? He is an up and coming coach but he is not ready yet for the rigors of the first team. Ask Fergie..or better yet, Queiroz.

He's become a scapegoat for the issues with the team and the fact that its a bit of a transitional period. I couldn't care less what the rags say about any reported bust-ups. If Ferguson really thought that removing Queiroz was the solution to our problems, he'd have let him go long, long ago.

Rene is dutch. He FREAKIN DUTCH MAN!!! You cant go wrong with dutch management. :p ;)

Rene has coached first team football before. So its not totally strange to him. He also knows the club, and its players, inside out. He just led the reserves to a treble. I think he deserves a chance to be fergies number two. He was the technical skills director of the club before managing the reserves. He knows his football. He deserves a chance to be beside Fergie.
