After world cup squads has been nominated and he met the czech national team as usually at HOTEL PRAHA in Dejvice, Bruckner has made an interview for czech press.

The most important point:
He said that he was following nominating of another team in the group. He did not want to comment so much on this. However he said that he is concentrating on the first opponents first - it means USA. He said that he is paying attention this first opponents. For the other teams (Italy, Ghana) he has still time.

He was surprised that GREGG BERHALTER HAS NOT BEEN NOMINATED. It was surprise from Brucknere point view. Then he said that otherweise the team of the USA is as he had expected. Also only surprise was Gregg Berhalter - not in the squad

Italy and Ghana - no surprise from his point view. But he said that he mostly paid attention to USA

Regarding high age average in the czech team he said that despite this his team has still quality and power. They have creativity and talent.

The italian scandal will have no effect on the czech team. Pavel Nedved (Turin) and Jankulovski (AC Milano) has been investigated, however it has no impact on the czech national team or at these two players.

Twenty-one members of Karel Bruckner’s World Cup squad gathered in Prague yesterday, at the Hotel Praha, and later trained at Strahov’s Evzen Rosicky stadium.

At a press conference, Bruckner said that Jan Koller and Vratislav Lokvenc had made “big improvements” after long layoffs with knee injuries, and that Vladimir Smicer was also making progress. The Czech coach said he hoped to play Smicer in the friendly against Trinidad & Tobago, in Prague, nine days before the finals begin

Pavel Nedved will wait until after the World Cup before he decides whether or not to retire from the game. After a bittersweet season with Juventus, whose Italian title win has been tarnished by an ongoing corruption scandal, the Czech star is keeping his options open. “I haven’t ruled out retirement, but it’s possible that I’ll continue my career with my club and also with the national team,” he told reporters in Prague yesterday.

NEDVED also said that USA can be big "surprise" in this world cup and Ghana is "african Brazil". Of course Nedved is very familiar with italian soccer so he did not want to mention his opinon on Italy. It is like second homeland for him.

He said that Italy wants to be first in the group. Because they want to avoid Brazil. He talked about it with his italian colleagues. Then he added that he would not mind to play against Brazil. Looks like he don´t think Czech can be first in the group. More he says that USA can be surprise or Ghana.

I think the italian soccer scandal took a lot of him. It is visible that he is worried about this.

well pele has said in the past an african side would win one of these days...

don't believe it's gonna be this cycle...2010 in south africa might pose more friendly conditions...

as to italy, either the troubles bibnds them into them versus the wolrd mentality helping them get through the media withchunt, OR it tears them apart, where something goes wrong causes thins to deteriorate...

don't know which it is, until they play
