My experience with managing games is limited to an afternoon with the Worldwide Soccer Manager demo. It was fun.

But I'm totally unfamiliar with the genre; I've never played Championship Manager or Winning Eleven.

What are the major differences between the games? Which is your favorite, and (most importantly) why?

Worldwide Soccer Manager dominates all other management sims for any reason you can imagine, most notably the MASSIVE, MASSIVE, MASSIVE database of players. If a guy's played for Afghan 12th division under-18 squad, he's on the game (a bit of an exagerration, but not much! :P).

Winning Eleven is not a management sim, though I like it just as much as WWSM. It's the same genre as the FIFA series. WE beats FIFA hands down and anyone who tells you otherwise just doesn't know what they're talking about. Trust me.
