I swear yesterday or couple days ago I saw it here somewhere, but I can't find it anymore
I need to look at the map where it shows distance in km to every host city in Germany and also I believe it's the train route map as well if I am not mistaken

Thanks. I am stilll quite undecided whether I should purchase the Weltmeister Pass or Weltmeister Ticket or this one, http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/world_cup_soccer_2006/germany_train_travel.htm?WT.mc_id=Yahoo_FIFA_180US&WT.srch=1.
That's why I am looking for that particular map. It has route and also distance between cities with the number written on the map. Lot easier to calculate.
My journey will begin on 30 June from Hamburg and will go to all matches from Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen, all the way to Berlin.
Which do you think I should get? The all I can ride 349 Euro? btw, what are the difference between bahn.de and raileurope.com train?

If you are travelling in Germany alone I would go for the Weltmeister Pass or Weltmeister Ticket which gives you total unrestricted access to the entire system for the entire duration of the cup. There are more restrictions on the other ticket as you can only move a certain amount of days on those tickets.
Also, and the German Rail companies will hate me for saying this, if you have the all inclusive ticket, you always have somewhere to sleep should accomodation be a problem, trains run throughout the night here in Germany, so just go to sleep on on and come back the next morning.:D

If the ride takes more than 5 hours, it's worth it, but otherwise, maybe not.
I am trying to calculate my cost from one city to another starting from the q final, then sum it up and compare with the Weltmeister Pass or Ticket
If I want it simple, I would go for the W Pass, but then I only attend 6 matches, so dunno, still confuse coz the W Pass sounds expensive, 349 Euro to USD with the weak current exchange is $420, dunno if that rate includes all Germans tax or we have to pay an additional tax on top of it.

No more tax, totally unlimited, no reservations required. Just turn up and travel at any time on any day for 30 days.

oo sh!t, sounds very compelling to me, i m so interested, would love to get that and end my research, but aaaahhhhh, without knowing all of the facts, it's hard...
1 question, even if the train somehow is SOLD OUT, no seat, I can still get a seat with W Pass guaranteed?
What is the difference between raileurope.com and bahn.de? Is the analogy similar to BMW vs Benz (it's a car but different company)? Cause when I look at bahn.de schedule, it has more night train than raileurope.com

Trains tend not to get sold out here. Never happened to me in 30 years of living in Europe :) If there is no seat you stand, or go top the bar, or wait for one. It would be unusual to refused entry to a train, however if you are moving directly after a game with a large group of fans, this could be a potential problem.
I don't know to be fair, I know the bahn.de site links to the raileurope.com but apart from that I have no idea...sorry.

Thanks for the reply. Never in my life I heard a train is fully booked like the plane, but you never know when it's the tournament. The reason I ask is for my last day train after the final in Berlin. I dont mind standing for 2 hours, I just mind missing my flight if it's due to overcrowded fans in a train.
Do you know by any chance if Hamburg train station is close to Hamburg international airport?
Thanks.

Of course. The way it works is that you show your W Pass to the guard, then point out which seat you would like, then he throws the person sitting in that seat off the train.

It's in a northern suburb, so not that close. When I was there, I think it took 30-45 min to get there by S-Bahn & Bus. But, that was 6 years ago, and they may have added a faster route. Take the S1 or S11 direction Poppenbüttel, and get off at the stop Ohlsdorf. Then you have to take the "Airport Express" bus, which takes 10-15 minutes. 6 years ago there was talk about adding a direct line from Ohlsdorf to the airport, so that could be faster now.

No difference except raileurope.com sells passes for all the rail networks in Europe. If you get a raileurope or europass or eurorail or eurail or any of those Euro passes, and Germany is included in your pass, you should be able to ride any DB (Deutsche Bahn) trains.
If you're travelling to/from a city on game day with a ton of other people, I'd reckon you won't get a seat without a reservation unless you're the first person on that train. But - that doesn't mean you're not allowed on the train - you will just have to stand until you can snatch a seat.
You can reserve seats by doing to bahn.de and following the instructions that are in other threads here. Look at the thread about train travel in the US Fans & Travel World Cup sub-forum for A LOT more info.

Thanks, Scottk964. The only Euro train that I will use is going to Paris. Other than Paris, I will be in Germany the whole time. However, looking at the Eurorail schedule, I don't see a night schedule, makes me wonder as bahn.de has plenty of schedule. What should I do? Do you think it's better to buy bahn.de tickets and the Paris ticket separately?
