Well since im psych and know how things r gonna end up
Portugal 9
Iran 6
Mexico 3
Angola 0
Argentina 9
Neatherlands 6
Serbia 3
Corte 0
Im just gonna say this I don't see any african suprises.
Do portugal and Iran heck fine ill play nice have a decent chance of beating Argentina and the Neatherlands...I seriously doubt it for 2 reasons
1 Neatherlands missed out last time they won't repeat it again
2 Argentina simply hates Mexico so they'd lay them out easily cmon even the mexican's can't lie that Argentina basically beats you guys silly everywhere(no offence theyed do the same thing to Iran).
Portugese fans are gonna think they have a chance because of Euro and Mexicans because of Confeds...We don't play the euro style anymore we learned how 2 beat it and evolved it 2 the current 4-2-2-2 whatever formation. No offence but I think Argentina is kinda pissy about Confeds so their gonna riffle it.

You don't know what you're talking about. The only thing your right about is the African sides.
Mexico has beaten Argentina on a somewhat regalar basis for the past few years. They may have the better of it by a small margin, but in no means will they manhandle Mexico.
Argentina and Brazil, would both love to avoid Mexico this coming WC.
And also, what Euro sides have you beat?

Assuming Portugal beats every team, a draw against Mexico and a large win against Angola will also do it for Iran.

Ireland in qualifers for 2002
Denmark in a friendly
Bosnia Herzegovina (sp?)
The main problem with Iran is that we don't get the chance to play any good teams that often to prove ourselves. So when you say things like "Iran has not achievements" "Where is Iran's record?" "Which teams have Iran beat?" etc. etc. It implies the wrong thing. We just haven't had the chance to prove ourselves, while other teams have played hundreds of games with great teams in their history.

I understand your point. Iran is at a disadvantage because of it.
It's just that AstonVillaFan eluded to some kind of conquering of the European style which would lead to greatness.
If he's just referring to players in the Bundesliga, well than maybe he should look at Peru.
Not that Iran will be like Peru, but I'm trying to say that...Great foreign players don't always mean greatness in the WC, if you don't have a very strong Domestic league.
I can't even pretend to know much about the IPL, but I get the impression, that it is not that strong, mediocre at best. That it's a league on the rebound, since the revolution. Which would put it quite a bit behind the MFL. That's a bigger precursor to success than foreign players IMO.
We'll all find out soon enough though, and I'm pretty confident, as I'm sure you are too.

I can relate to that... i still remember when Portugal had the same problem(we didnt qualify for any tournament or qualify for one every 20 years).
I remember in Euro 2000 (our group was England "allways a favorite", Germany "Euro champion in 96" & Romania "that qualified #1 in our group"), nobody believed we had any chance with that seed, but after the great victory against England 3-2 (after England got to 2-0) all changed.
Some good teams of today were underdogs in the past.
About this group, i believe every team is capable of the best & the worse, first game is going to be decisive for everyone & their career in this WC. Ofc i strongly believe Portugal & Mexico will go thru 1/8 (i saw Mexico play in Conf cup & they have a strong team, same with their youth teams, i remember Portugal playing Semi-finals of Toulon tournament against Mexico & we won 1-0 with some luck).
Good luck to everyone ;)

I watched Mexico in the confeds and I watched Argentina with England...No offence...but its 2 different teams. Argentina simply demolishes everyteam in group D. I dunno how the Neatherlands will do i saw them vs England and some of their qualifiers and their a strong team however I think the Portugese have a chance with them. IMO who ever gets Argentina is simply screwed.
so if Mexico and Iran qualify we don't stand much of a chacne at best the Portugese make it 2 the top 8....Eh sorry I don't see any big suprises all group D teams are out by the end of the sweet 16.

Mexico is 1 to 1 over the last two matches dude.
And they were both close.
So if you hold Argentina in such high regards, you might rethink your hubris over Iran.

I'm not worried about holland, weve completly owned them the past 6 years. and their team is weaker now then in euro 2004.
Argentina...depends who scolari starts and how he plays..if hes smart hell know argentina usually play with a back 3 with 2-dmids so their vunerible on the flanks, and thats portugals best attribute( why he shou,d have called quaresma oh well)
figo ronaldo with miguel and ferriera bombing down the flanks will cause loads of probs for argentina.
we are hardly screwred.
Deco is better then any mid argentina have, and tiago established himself as one of the top mids in europe already with lyon which is pretty amazing..lyon fans say hes much better then essien ever was:eek: . those 2 can hold their own against any mid out there..and with maniche or costinha to do the man marking of riquelme or aimar( remember riquelme was owned by gilberto of arsenal in the cl, he doesnt do well when someone is in his face) we have a good chance.
the only problem is the injury of andrade...he would have bveen perfect...fast, tall strong...but carvalho-meira defense is to slow to stop messi and tevez, so we lose out there.
vs holland we have good chances..and argentina is 50/50
serbia plays kinda ike greece and we mighthave troubles there....and ivory coast plays a open game, perfect for portugal to use thier superior skills....any open game is a game portugal dominates...vs spain, holland etc its been proven..so the more attacking the other team plays the better for portugal because we have the space to control the midfield and make swift trinagular one touch passing plays before unleahsing a forward through on goal or passing it back out to the 18 for shots.
That being said however...we have to see which portugal team is going to show up at the world cup.
the one who tied liechenstein 2-2 and lost to greece..or the one that beat brazil, spain, holland, england, Croatia, russia(7-1) etc the past 3 years.
I have a bad feeling about this world cup...to many things going wrong just like b4 2002...
andrade injured in 2004>>> Figo and rui costa plating injured in 2002 and simao out injured.
many players out of form like maniche costinha valente>>> same with alot of player sin 2002..
etc etc
to much of a coincedence:confused:

Trust me, there will be plenty of ties in both these groups. Portugal could only get all 3 points if everything went well which won't :(

Iran qualified for the 1978 WC when there were only 16 teams participating. They were the sole representative from Asia + Oceania that year. They lost to Holland and Peru and tied Scotland (1-1). In '98 (20 years later) they beat USA in France 2-1, for a total of 4 points, per your calculations :)

by the way im showing no hubris....Im saying were all gonna loose... A loss is a loss you still get 3 points in the end. and in the final 16 how much you lose by won't matter. So your still screwed. Last time I checked we only lost to you guys by 1 point in Calinfornia which is basically northern Mexico. This time you guys play Iran in Germany which is like Northern Iran and you lose by 1...Don't you love how life works out.

My friend, the crystal ball you look into is telling you lies!!! There is only one FootyNostradamus!!! Perhaps a more accurate prophecy is this...
From misery, the tears full circle
a western european challenge
will bring joy to iberia...
there, Samba will meet
the great champions,
frustrated and annoyed,
from the iberian coast...
a new power red and gold
this is what is to come!!!

too bad spain and brazil wont meet in the finals, but in the quarterfinals...check how the matchups are suppose to be "nostradamus";)
i on the other hand predict july 9th will be a night football cries as espana suffers yet another mental block and loses to the footballistically inferior deutchland

It's been settled already, the Mexicans have promised to take care of the cheating Argies and we'll take care of the dirty Dutchies.
We'll then meet for a simpson's final.

Deco has one ofthe highest ball recovery ratiox in the spanish premieria and champions league, prtty nifty for a playmaker..
riquelme= pure lazy ass playmaker...
deco= well rounded, gains possesion and distributes...
also ronaldinho said deco is thebesyt playmaker in the world besides hm LOL what a cocky ********:D
Here ill give yu this, at pure playmaking ability triquleme is better, but even then deco is jsut a sliver behind him...and deco is vastly superior in recouping the ball and disstributing
Why do you think barcalona sold riquelme to raise funds to get deco:rolleyes:
AstonVillaFan

here is the difference. Riquelme lead a decent squad 2 the final 4 and nearly to the finals. At least he had class not 2 teach messi 2 dive 2 get in the finals.
Riquelme is easily better than Deco...Brasil and Argentina battle all the time. Riquelme is on Argies A squad. Deco couldn't even make the cut. That sums it about up.
