The other thread on Ronaldinho Gaucho vs Maradona made me think that the ONLY way to compare the two RIGHT NOW is to compare RONALDINHO GAUCHO at his current age (26) to Maradona up to the age of 26, which happens to be 1986 (Though he was still 25 at the WC). Same with other comparisions. Use the current players age and the legend at that age.

So as of right now both had 1 World Championship by the age of 26 the differnce being Maradona was the leader of the 86 team while Ronaldinho was important but not the #1 guy. Surely maradona would have won the FIFA player of the year at least once by the end of 86. So they are fairly even there.

So as of right now..both at the age of 26 , Maradona has a slight advantage. If Ronaldinho takes Brazil to the Hexa and then keeps winning in Spain and with the FIFA POTY award year after year...then I think it will be fairly advantage Ronaldinho.

On the same token if you introduce Pele....he was 26 in 1966. By then 2 time WC....and scoring like a madman...then still had his best WC in 70....

So, you're just completely throwing out the eras the players lived in. Seriously.

all things being equal my friend.

If Ronaldinho was born in Peles era he wouldnt be Ronaldinho...he would be Ronaldinho from peles era.

Do you have a better solution?

There isn't a better solution. The worst part and best part of comparing players is that there really is no way to prove who is better. IMO, the best way to do it would be to look at players only after their careers are over. However, that isn't as much fun as Ronaldinho versus whomever. I don't get involved in these versus threads too much because their is no point. Few, if any, change their minds about the end result.

My friend, in all honesty there is no point in ANY Internet forum, especially when we are talking sports...the whole point is just to BS about stuff...its not like we are working on ending poverty here. So if the topic is a VERSUS topic or who will win the WC , its all just talk.
