With the distinct possiblility that Atlanta or the south won't recieve an expansion franchise it might be best to concentrate our efforts on trying to bring the Wizards to town. The Wizards are already a good product on the field, so we wouldn't have to worry about expansion bumps. The would bring local product Josh Wolff back home and Alabama product Eddie Johnson closer to home. The Wiz have been experiencing low attendance figures for years now and KC doesn't seem to take to soccer well. What are the chances that an Atlanta ownership group steps up and buys the Kansas City franchise to bring to Georgia?

there is nothing wrong with wanting MLS to come to Atlanta. if you have such a problem with it don't post in the Atlanta MLS sub-forum. and i do support the Silverbacks.

Yea, you're right. I think I got that from an ESPN the magazine article, when they had him in the NEXT issue. My bad, but still that's closer to home.

EJ is from Palm Coast, Florida near Daytona Beach.

Personally, and I hope no more KC fans take offense to this, I think KC will be relocated but it will be to St. Louis. I think MLS would like the idea of maintaining KC's fans who might choose to continue supporing the team as long as it stayed in the state. It may be further away, but it wouldn't be out of the question to go see a few games a year.
In response to your question, I think there is about a 0% chance just because KC has problems now and Alanta isn't ready now...timing isn't right. I bet MLS wants to watch the Backs to see how they do and use them as the expansion franchise if at all possible...its much easier for them than putting forth all the effort to find an owner and build another stadium.

I'm a Wizards fan, been to a number of games. I hope that they don't relocate and I'm aware of efforts in KC to square them away with a SSS and new ownership. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be rewarded with a truly southern MLS franchise (aka non Florida) outside of TX for years. It's sad. But I'll keep hoping and wishing.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to watching our Silverbacks grow.

While relocating KC to Atlanta would be great, we'd face the same two obstacles that are keeping us from getting an expansion team:
- No stadium
- No owner
Without those two ingredients, we're dead in the water. Good thought, though.

Silverbacks stadium can be expanded to 20,000 by 2008. There are many corporations HQed in Atlanta, and Falcons/Force owner just backed out of buying the Braves and could still be interested in purchasing yet another pro-franchise. If not him then the Silverbacks owners could possibly try to move up if the window opened, or another unnamed investor could step up.

If the Wizards play in Kansas City in 2007, that means a stadium deal has been finalized in Kansas City. If your city isn't prepared to host an MLS team in 2007, then you can forget the Wizards.

Thats why the Backs are the best option at the moment.

True....Unless an I/O steps up now, we won't get the Wiz.

I think the stadium expansion is possible from looking at the plans. They would have to build over the two fields next to the stadium though.
I've been looking everywhere for some sort of meaningful contact related to Arthur Blank, but can't find anything. I might have to start making phone calls.

It is possible that they may purchase the driving range across the street from Silverbacks Park. If they do that then the other fields and the offices and some parking may be moved there. It will solve all of the space problems.

Really? I was wondering about that...do you have any solid leads on that or is it only speculation?
