If the refusal of the US to supply Venezuela spare parts renders them inoperable, those F-16s could still be quite valuable to Iran. Like its other American made planes (F-14s, F-4s etc), Iran would be likely to keep them flying regardless. Moreover, Iran could learn a lot about the planes by studying them as it tries to clone parts for them as well as possibly reproduce them in modified form.

Venezuela may sell U.S. jets to Iran, others
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuela's military is considering the possibility of selling its fleet of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets to another country, perhaps Iran, a Venezuelan military official said Tuesday.

Thats like tearing down a '77 Oldsmobile trying to figure out how the onstar works in a 2006 Caddilac. Now i know Irans goal would be simply to have that 77 Olds and be able to replicate parts, but its laughable that anyone would think that in all seriousness this would be a feather ruffler to the current US Airfleet.

Chavez has been making this threat ever since Israel was forced (by America) to break its defense contracts with Venezuela.

Hopefully the US will shoot down any cargo plane that attempts to illegally transport these aircraft from Ven.
Also Iran would not be able to clone any of the parts, even though the planes were sold to Ven in 83.

The Iranian Air Force F-4's and F-14's are older models that would be outclassed by the newer versions. They also didn't get the allotment they ordered before the Shah was overthrown. Same goes with the F-16 since beng sold in '83 would certainly mean they were A model aircraft.

We should welcome more international trade and cooporations. The world doesn't have to be and won't be "American" centric for certain crowd to feel American.
Besides, Iran has its own line of internally designed and built jet fighters. I am sure IM can showcase some pics for us.

By doing this, Iran could be fighting us with our planes? Do they seriously think that our military won't know how to take advantage of weaknesses of those planes?

I think it's just more bluster from Chavez.

Your confusion has more to do with your stupidity than Iranian inventions, hope this helps.

The way Chavez is going the US may be sending him some new, high tech devices such as Cruise Missiles and other more advanced Fighter Planes to visit him there. Free of charge to him too.

This could spell danger for US forces abroad if Doug Masters and Chappy Sinclair defect to Iran.
