better than grinsi
we need ottmar though
Sammer better than Klinsi? Don't know about that......ask any Dortmund fan and they'll be kind to tell you that despite that title under him he ain't that great of a coach.
Great player but he shouldn't be criticising Klinsman. I hate that about the German Media and many of the critics, they really aren't in his shoes and don't know the circumstances surround his job. He was appointed and therefore given the right to coach his own way. They should have thought about his method and style before they hired him just to constantly criticise him all the time.
That does Germany no good before a WC.

#1) Are you insane??!?!? He's horrendous Sammer
#2) Will discuss this AFTER the World Cup. Give Klinsi a chance. He deserves one. No one can judge him accurately on the back of a Confederations Cup and meaningless friendlies.

As much as I appreciate the fact that Grinser is in the driving seat now I still think he made some incomprehensible decisions (Hanke, Kuranyi, Hinkel) and it took Ballack to go public to change his kamikaze tactics.

I think we should rest some of the players in the CR game. It looks like their best forward Paolo Wanchope won't be playing. Ballack and Schneider could be replaced by Borowski and Odonkor. Schweini and Odonkor could push forward on the wings and feed Klose and Poldi with crosses.

How many titles did Rudi Voller had before WC 2002?Zero.
So if Germany would have won,he then would be a better coach than Sammer.I don't think so.
Kliinsman cannot still be evaluated as a coach,He is just beginning his career after all.
But Sammer. Sammer has been more years as a coach and despite winning a title with Dortmund,he has not proved he is a good coach. He hasn't probed it because his coaching career has been inconsisten.
Sammer as a coach:
-1 regular-good season with Dortmund.
-the rest of his seasons as a coach he has been horrible.
It is consistency that probes quality.

Sammer is the example for a very good player, who is a total bummer as a coach. Not to mention that he is a miscast for the technical director position. Those who are seriously questioning Klinsmann, should really consider someone else as an alternative for the NT after the WC

You are too harsh on Klinsmann.
How many titles did Ribbeck win?? He was sill made the coach. Klinsmann accepted the responsibility when no one else did. Now those people have no right to criticize Klinsmann.

MOURINHO TIPS GERMANY AND HOLLAND

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has tipped Germany and Holland as the only teams who can stop Brazil.
Mourinho clearly does not believe that England can upset the favourites and instead reserves his praise for Jurgen Klinsmann and Marco van Basten.
''I have no idea who can stop Brazil because they have such a strong team, much more so than in 2002,'' he told The Sun.
''For now, there are two teams who stand out - Holland and Germany.
''Their coaches inspire me. They were courageous players and they impose their playing style as coaches.
''I don't know if they will have good or bad results but within three years they'll do well.''

KLINSMANN BLAST FAIR - BALLACK
Posted: 07/06/06 - 04:50 E-mail Print Save
Germany captain Michael Ballack felt he had every right to criticise coach Jurgen Klinsmann's tactics in the build-up to the World Cup.
The midfielder, who remains doubtful for Friday's World Cup opener against Costa Rica due to a calf strain, publicly slammed Germany's attacking approach after they were forced to come from 2-0 behind to claim a 2-2 draw against Japan last week.
Ballack has since urged everyone - including Klinsmann - to switch the focus back to defence.
"The game against Japan simply was not good," Ballack said.
"There were some deficiencies which I simply had to address. That is what he (Klinsmann) expects from me. The team needs to understand that a good defence will be the key to success."
Ballack liked what he saw in the 3-0 thrashing of Colombia in the final friendly last Friday, and he hopes his team can build on that performance over the course of the tournament.
"It was a step in the right direction," he said.
"But we need to keep improving and not settle back now. We will have to deal with much better teams after the first round."
Germany have been rocked by the news their key playmaker may not enter the tournament in top condition after a calf injury saw him miss practice on Monday and Tuesday.
While Ballack has described the injury as "not that bad but nagging", Germany assistant coach Joachim Low has identified his aggressive style of play as the main reason behind his recent injury problems.
"He goes into a lot of tackles and is tightly marked by his opponents," Low said.
"Very often he can only be stopped by fouls. All he got was a knock on his calf and that happens all the time if you play in midfield.
"I don't expect it to be a serious issue. It is just a normal bruise. He knows how important he is for all of us."

Mourinho has been eating dust everywhere in UK except within 5 Kilo M of Chelsea, so he is taking this chance to snub England and to get back at the British media.

No good idea. This is the first match of tournament,
the best players must play and show a convincing performance.
@ HerrRupert an co.:
Stop this stupid Klinsmann bashing as long as Germany is in the tournament.
Where were all your heroes coaches after the EC 2004,
when Germany needed a new coach?
They were all too chicken, because of the pressure to lead a team,
that was no one, into a WC as a host country.
I respect Klinsmann, i also donīt accept all his decisions,
but his job isnīt easy.
He and the team have my support. :)

Amen to that. Klinsi was the only one with the kahunas to step up and take the challenge nobody else wanted, and in fact nobody has wanted for quite some time. After Vogts left, Germany had to settle for the woefully underqualified Ribbeck, because, you guessed it, none of the other highly qualified managers wanted it (or their contracts with their clubs wouldn't allow it). Then they were saved by Voeller, when nobody else wanted it. Finally, Klinsi stepped up, when the completely available Hitzfeld showed no interest (and again, nobody else wanted it).
And I don't agree with everything Klinsi is doing (most notably playing Frings as the defensive mid). But, by and large, Klinsi is doing a fantastic job, and doing things his way, and injecting a new mentality, and doing things in a new way. This all going to help reinvigorate Germany's national team in the long run.

He's ballsy too. Selecting Odonkor, Hitzlsperger? Very few managers would be like that.
I like this team; it's not the best team in German history (its one of the worst actually) but the team seems unified and ready. And we will stand by them. :)
