So when I came home from school today I looked through all the football websites to see what has transpired during the day. I read about Michael Ballack joining Chelski and thought to myself "********, ah well, it's not like I didn't see it coming", I read even more about the Ruud situation, I discover that Juventus may not be holding on to the Serie A title amidst allegations of match fixing, but then I find an article that just blows me away.

Nick Webster, the ultimate tool box, Manchester United hating, piece of shit scouser lover of a journalist has just written the best and worst list from the 2005/06 English Premier League season. There are a few things that I can agree with on his list, like Aston Villa being the worst team of the season, and Jean-Alain Boomsong being the worst player of the season, but then I read his list of best player of the season, and notice that Wayne Rooney is not even mentioned, not once. His name is nowhere to be found on the list for ******** sakes. He listed Kolo Toure as the best player this season. WHAT A LOAD OF HORSE SHIT!!! This guy is a ********ing professional journalist . What a joke.

Anyhow, I have many other complaints about his list, but I'll give every one else a chance to pick it apart.

Ah yes, Mr. Nick "I have a British accent, so I must know about football" Webster strikes again, eh?

I don't even waste my time reading his tripe, and frequently mute FSC until the match starts, so I don't have to listen to his numpty musings.

Webster writes:
Worst European Adventure: Manchester United was a joke in Europe's top competition. In six matches, they scored a whopping three goals and won just one match. Against the likes of Benfica, Villarreal and Lille, Sir Alex Ferguson didn't seem to know what tactics to use, the players seemed uninspired and the much-vaunted special atmosphere on European nights at Old Trafford was a spectacular dud.

I have to say he does have a point it was a joke, but Uniteds European record since English teams where allowed back into Europe is the best of the English clubs. But he is way off on the atmosphere. I was at the Benfica game, I dont think he was!

Been to United this season and there has been a great atmosphere. Wonder when he goes to OT?????

Agreed definitely on this, especially with the Georgie Best songs going around the holidays. Away support was fantastic as well.

Have to agree though that we were a joke in Europe, and in fact have been spotty for a couple of seasons now, not to mention our crap record in knockout ties.

Still, the sound of Webster and Bretos coming through my television makes me want to hit someone. Hard.

Kolo Toure was absolutely phenomenal all season long so I don't mind that... Rooney should be on the list of best players, but lets not forget his 2-3 month vacation in the middle of the season.

Toure has been great all season long, but definitely not the best. Not ahead of Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, or Terry.

EDIT: I for whatever reason, reasons which not even myself know, put Beckham's name in the list. WTF was I thinking. I meant Gerrard. :o

It's a tough call but of the top five I might leave Rooney out too. He showed how immensly important he is to United but not in any order I would have to go Henry, Gerrard, Lehman, Lampard and Toure. Maybe Makalele. The defensive guys get left out often because they have no flashy stats. Rooney had a pretty rough spell mid year.

Given was better than Lehmann, and Lampard was very poor by his standards from about January until the end of the season, something that the Chelsea posters were pointing out moreso than others.

There is simply no way that Rooney fails to get into the top 5 at least this season. If importance to one's team counts, he instantly becomes either number 1 or 2 (along with Henry).

But Rooney also had a prolonged run of poor form (by his standards) - which was a hot topic of conversation here for quite a while. I'm not necessarily saying that he shouldn't be in the top 5, but neither do I think it's as clearcut as 'Rooney should definately be in there'.

Nick Webster doesn't like MUFC. No news there. Our European record sucked - he takes a pot shot. Not a shock. Poor journalism - but FSC isn't exactly all that reputable.

Wayne had three months where he was not as good as he is usually, but in that timeframe he was still playing far, far above the abilities of your average player. I don't think he can be called 'poor' by any means during that period as he was also playing BOTH CM roles part of the time. When Ferguson made the decision to just bipass our midfield a little later, Rooney was back to his usual best.

Atleast Websters not as bad as Schoen, or Bretos.

The only exposure Bretos gets over here iirc, is during Soccer A.M's'coverage' of Boston United matches, which is utterly hilarious. Not sure if he is fully 'in' on the joke, however. :o

I humbly suggest you watch any Galaxy highlights on mlsnet.com then, it's absolutely dreadful to listen to him and his trusty sidekick Allen Hopkins bumble their way through a match. And I have to withstand 30+ matches of their psycho-babble per season. God help me.

I'd rather have crap announcers than a bare trophy case. :p

(I would have said "...than a crap team." But I'm really in no position to say that after our shockingly abysmal play this season.)
