...scored against England in the WC?

The english media and the fans love tearing into him over there and you have to suspect a lot of it is France-bashing since it seems like they wanted him to fail right from the get-go. Not all of them but definately a few.

Rubbish. Nobody wanted Cisse to fail, why the hell would they? He's had a hard time, and just hasn't fit in well. The only "tearing into him" is due to the difference in what Liverpool fans expected and what he's given.

So do you deny that many Liverpool fans wanted to get rid of him even as he had the best strike to minutes played ratio on the team?

What's Fowler's in comparison I wonder?

Cisse has gotten ripped, amazing that he's put more in the back of the net then Crouch, Morientes, or Fowler...... Often coming off the bench.

Despite this weekend, Cisse does not score in big games for us. That's pretty much across the board. If you go back and look at his goals, there are not many that were scored when it really counted. All goals count, sure, and point are points, but we needed Cisse to step up and be one of our main contributors that we could always count on. He hasn't been. But no one hates him for it. No one wants him to fail. We just don't want him to keep contributing as he has. 18 goals aside, he doesn't add much to the team. His passing is shit and he tries too hard be showy, always trying to take on too many men. He doesn't play a team game. It's debatable that he's not being played correctly, but we don't control over that. And we're certainly not going to call for Rafa's head for not using Cisse correctly.

And as for Robbie...well, read the above. Those aren't complaints you can make about him.

Again, Crouch contributes so much to the team play when he's on the pitch, that simply comparing goal tallies is not giving the whole picture.

Jesus, you guys should do the Aussie boards and join in on the "Liverpool hates Harry Kewell conspiracy" circle jerk.

All I know is that dude scores. This Crouch provides so much more is garbage. Looks like a girraffe running on ice.... The guy is aweful. If Crouch were French he'd be getting destroyed in the press. If your sick of Cisse, then get rid of him already, there are plenty of potential buyers out there.

some very smart football analysts have said that a strikers job, above all else, is to score goals. If they contribute to the team in other areas, well that's just a bonus. They've also said that the best strikers are also selfish because they are obsessed with scoring.

I'm not saying Cissé is god or without faults, but I think the pressure on him has been unbelievable. I think he has tried to prove himself in every game and rarely ever gets any credit from the media or anyone else. I think if he was playing for Lyon or any other team for that matter he could RELAX and actually play much better. Probably smarter too.

I'm quite sure we will, don't worry.

And that really is one of the main issues. He acts as if every time he gets the ball, it's a new trial to prove how great he can be. He came under huge expectations and he wasn't able to meet them at first. He was just as excited to be here as we were to have him, and I think that he probably put more pressure on himself than Liverpool fans ever did.

I think the whole Cisse situation is sad. He was signed by a manager that was leaving when he finally got here. He was signed to play a specific role, but all of a sudden there's a new boss in town that doesn't have the same vision. He wasn't able to be the player we wanted him to be, nor who he wanted to be, for a variety of reasons (some his fault, some not). He wants to stay here but I'm afraid he probably won't.

Enjoy Crouch and Fowler up front next year. That should be exciting.

You clearly know the squad well enough to comment on it.

He scored quite a bit against weak European sides at the start of the season, just like Gerrard. He has been poor against decent opposition, as his league form shows. Cisse just isn't consistant enough to be a main striker at an elite club.
