A huge slap in the face would make a lot of good to the team, I'm sure. Like in 2002, France is playing sur un faux rythme (don't know how to say this in english). Team France played meaningless draws, short victories vs crappy teams.... The whole qualifying process was a joke : our group was ridiculously weak, the result should have been 100% wins, with a +231 goal average.

Instead of this, sluggish, boring games... And Raymondo in his Dr. Coué impersonation : "this 0-0 draw vs Israel in stade de France is an outstanding result, I feel something really great is going on with this group, everything is okay. The game was absolutely exhilarating, with such speed and skills, we nearly shot on goal twice in 90'... But we knew Israel has a formidable defense, and it was not possible to break through such an impressive fortress.... bla bla bla.... bla bla bla.... "

For goodness sake, if we CAN'T EVEN SCORE A SINGLE GOAL against Switzerland, Ireland and Israel in Stade de France, how could we beat Brazil, England, Argentina or Germany in a world cup ?

Here here!!!! And repped.

wasnt 2002 already a huge slap in the face?

most of those boring results came before zidane and co came back to the team.

didn't France struggle in the qualifiers in 1998?

I don't think a loss to mexico would be good. this team needs more confidence not less...although in 2002 the team WAS over-confident.

What I fear is a sluggish game, a draw or short victory. It would build false confidence. A good win would be ok (of course), and a loss would ring the bell. But I don't like the gloomy in-between where France is stuck today.

As hosts, France did not play qualifiers...

i agree 100%with those who say, "coupet fans, get over it". but saying he plays on too good a club is ridiculous, because he's one of those who makes it a good club. Ol wins lots of close matches, and he's a big reason. and let's not forget the match at nantes where he saved the team singlehandedly; the kind of performance that very few keepers in the history of the game have come up with! in the locker room afterwards the team was chanting his name just like we do in the kop.

100 % foot showed a coupet v. barthez compilation last night, and our lyonnais friend was clearly superior. estelle denis needs to knock raymond upside the head.

speaking of dhorasoo, jogatv has this clip with mendy who goes on to describe vikash's warm-up as basically a bunch of lunges. hilarious though not exactly relevant?
