DC United 2 :: 1 Kansas

Somebody should tell Peter the rules have
changed and we're allowed three subs.

No Flames - No Trolls

Just like last week, this team struggles to finish great opportunities. Glad for the win, but damn, the finishing MUST be better than this if any title is to be expected. Then again, the Supporters Shield DOES mean something this year, so I shouldn't be talking like that.

Im just going to start by saying its a good thing that we can still get 3 points without playing well, or our best. Thats the characteristic of champions. But as this season progresses, we have to be consistantly good.

Possesion wise, we didnt get a real hold on the game until the 60th or so minute.

People might slate Jaime for his current below par performances, but he is the kind of player that will be shit for 86 minutes then produce a couple moments of magic that would win the game in the rest of the time.

Erpen needs to stop playing with the ball at the back.

well a win is a win. Eski played great as usual. Jamie played better than crap in my opinion, but he needs a sub. Again we only used one sub, and the team needed some fresh legs. It's still a win and were first place in Eastern Conference

What does it mean this year?

Weird game.

-It just felt like our team from Nowak on down were sooo laissez faire about defense tonight. Almost daring Kansas to try and beat them.

- The PK that Esky got was bogus. OTOH the goal by Esky was a beaut.

- How could sealy miss that first half chance?

- Agree about the lack of subs.

That was a classic 'get out of jail' performance, but even the best teams have those days.

We'll be glad of those points after a few more road games;)

Here I was cussing Freddy up and down for missing that goal when Jaime and Jamil missed their chances too. And it wasn't spectacular goalkeeping: the three just shot right at him.

O.K. - we win. 3 points for the good guys.

Mediate? Who the f--- is he? Right on - good start - I'm impressed.

Perkins? Nice saves and very confident when coming off his line. (Edit: Had a couple atrocious goal kicks - looked like Bo during MLS Cup 2004 ;) )

Gomez? Great game - he had some awesome passes.

Bo? How did he save that shot from Walker? How?

We could have looked better - but we looked good enough - for tonight.

Roadkit? I'm pooped. Spent 10 hours in my car today driving back from Downeast. I'm going to finish this 6-pack and hit the rack. :D

Other random thoughts:

- Erpen made some mistakes but he seemed so much more present then Boswell.

- Gros gets better every game. I'm really surprised how good he's gotten.

- Did I mention the subs? WTF?

- When Walker did come on, like the Chivas game in particular, the game changed. It's like the attack energizes. So we didn't score. Didn't matter. the game ended when Jamil appeared.

- That DOESN'T mean though that Jamil should start.

Picked him up in the draft.

Jamil should have just taken it around Bo, what with fresh legs and all. Jaime just looked tired on his attempt...he just kinda wound up and took a crack when he could have gotten closer for sure, even behind the defense for a one v one. And Freddy, man, it seems like he either goes postal or right at the keeper. He needs to get that first one of the season, then he won't be so skittish when bearing down on goal...he just looks like he's lost the confidence to finish.

Mediate was good and not so good. he helped in the attack and was active all night. But- and this he can't really help, there's this communication between Gomez, Carrroll, and Olsen that allows the three to dominate the midfield, any midfield, that maybe only Simms can approximate. Still Mediate playinmg the Olsen was promising.

Another win, but we don't seem to be clicking on offense. There was no fluid motion to the attack tonight. They look tired. I know they had a midweek scrimage, but I got the impression they were out till 4am last night. Glad for the win, but PN needs to tighten up the attack.

Damn, if Eski had played last year, like this, he would be in Cary, NC.

When the ball is played straight at you, it tends to be easy to save. ;)

Picked him up in the draft.

Not an actually rookie though. I think as a draft day trade. He played with Colombus last season.

Yeah, we sent them a 4th round supplemental draft pick.
