It says Philadelphia in it, which isn't the greatest.

Otherwise not too bad. I'd even go for the nickname.

I don't hate Philly, it's a wonderful city and all, but your sports teams suck.

South Jersey teams are fine with me however. :D If they start their existance in Philly next year, then I'm ok with that.

Even though they have a 75% chance of having "Philadelphia" in the name?

You do realize, that is the name of this forum, right?

I'm aware. I think the chance is more like 72% though.

I certainly do, though you'll recall when the Rowan plan was announced I suggested the forum name be changed to "Philadelphia / South Jersey" (and I still think that's a good idea).

Matt is what we NYers refer to as a Jerseyphile for those wondering why prime questions him. He was very upset about the new NYRB name, especially because it did not include Jersey.

Matt, my question to you is this:

Why does Metro need to have NJ in their name, if this team playing in Jersey will most likely take Philadelphia as their name?

It must be a Jersey thing. I can't see anyone caring the slightest bit if a team did or did not have Connecticut in the name (that's where I'm from).

If you know so much about me, you wouldn't have asked the question. In my opinion, "Metro" should go by North Jersey, and this new team should go by South Jersey. Neither team "needs" to do I would presume (unless Rowan makes them), but it would be nice.

And yes, the Jets and Giants should rename themselves too, not that they will. I'm consistent.

How many teams in CT go by "New York"?

Anyway, there's a whole other thread about this in this forum. No need to rehash here.

Why do we continue to insist on that damn bell as the symbol of our city? THE BELL IS BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bells are the opposite of children: they are meant to be heard, not seen.
I have ranted about this before, but here's a quick history of the Liberty Bell: It was cast, it rang, it broke, it was re-cast.
It rang again, it broke again, it was re-cast again.
It rang again, it broke again, but was not fixed, and became a symbol. Very strange.
It needs to be re-cast and rung. It needs to have an endowment to pay for maintenance and re-casting if need be so that it can be heard, as bells are supposed to be. They should ring the HELL out of that bell every July 4 and other holidays and special events. Instead, they take those itty-bitty little hammers and gently tap it, "symbolically" ringing it. What a joke, and an insult to the bell, frankly.
So no, I do not like the logo you posted. It looks nice, I just am tired of something broken symbolizing the city.
Please abstain from the obvious joke that it symbolizes the city because the city is broken. Not funny, and not true.

skyscraper, like it or not, the Bell is more Philly than any of us. It symbolizes a famous time in the city's history and is still celebrated today - it's not as if we, the soccer nuts, we grasping for a tie in. But with all the Phalanxes around the town I can understand your desire for that.

I'd rather have that Bell represent our city, moreso than people continuously harping on about a statue of a fictional movie boxer.

edited out the pic as its so damn big

That is one poor excuse for a cheesesteak. There's almost no meat on it, the cheese was applied as whole slices to the side and not right on the meat, and the onions are concentrated in one spot right in the middle of the sandwich. Please tell me you can get better wherever you are.

The bell would be a great symbol - if it WORKED. And it used to work. It was not so sacred an object that when it broke two times before they couldn't melt it down and recast it. But after the third time, they gave up and just left the crack. The inscription on the bell mocks us: "PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THE LAND AND TO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF." You can't proclaim anything with a broken bell.
But with all the Phalanxes around the town I can understand your desire for that

*SIGH* It's not just the aliteration, it's the military tie- in. I'm not going to explain that again.
And if those aliterations are what you think of the city, then leave.
