According to Pele and Platini, Francesco Totti is the best player in the world, what do you think?

Pele's praise is starting to become like getting on the cover of Sports Illustrated...

That's probably the only thing Pele got right in years, and so did Platini.
Totti is the best player in the world.

Rather than comparing let's just say soemthing that I think everyone can agree with:
He's among the best in the world, his strike rate this season would betop draw for a free scoring centre forward, for a player who sits in the midfield it's out of this world.

It's Theo Walcott. He has the speed of a puma, eyes of a hawk and the strength of a bear.

What does 'current' mean? Right now he is far from the best player in the world. And Rooney probably isn't among the top 10,000 players.

An opinion you don't agree with is hardly trolling.

Totti is a great player, but right now I will say the best is Ronaldinho. There are several outstanding established players and a number of young talented kids with potential at this time, so it is a great time to be a fan. I vote for Ronnie, but after I get to watch and analize very closely all the top players at the highest level of competition next month I reserve the option of changing my mind.

C'mon - just because Totti doesn't play for one of the 57 teams
you support, doesn't mean he's not a top 10 player. Over the last
decade I think he's been Serie A's best performer as no one can
both provide assists and score goals at the rate he does, and he's
done it all in style. His one weakness is in terms of awards and
trophies: he led Roma to a scudetto and was MoM in the Euro 2000
final, but he hasn't been consistent for the Azzurri and as everyone
knows he's suffered for sticking with his hometown club.
Still, aside from Ronaldinho, you'd be hard-pressed to find a #10 of
his quality. I just hope he has a great WC for the Azzurri.
And yeah - I was busting your chops with my first comment. :D

The moderators who mod the actual board sometimes don't see it that way. ;)

Well, offensively, maybe. He's no Nesta.

Yeah - offensively it's probably Totti or Sheva, the last 8 or
so years. Defensively - that's a good question. Probably Nesta,
though Maldini was still pretty damn good in '96. :)

I wouldn't say he's the best in the world, I still don't think there is one player that stands out above all. But if I had to choose the best option it wouldn't be Totti or Ronaldinho, but Henry who for me just plays on another level of genius. It's fair to argue that these three are in the top five in the world though.
