No, not a red. A yellow, sure. But when I saw that, it didn't strike me as hard enough or clearly intentional enough for a red.
BTW, this wasn't an especially dirty game - this strikes me as griping by Mexican fans. The bottom line is that Mexico does not have enough attacking talent to seriously threaten a top flight South American or European side. They were well organized defensively and can steal games playing the way they did against France tonight, but some of the Mexican fans observing this game aren't being honest about the run of play. France had many more legitimate chances. (France isn't my no. 1 team, BTW - I've liked them since I was a kid and they had Platini and co., I'm actually a US fan - but I saw the game and it was it was)

so Barthez got booed again (whistles) at the stade de france. no big surprise.
so did Domenech. well that's just funny.
but what did surprise me is that Dhorasoo got booed too...before he even made his first touch. I wonder if it affected his game at all, he seemed out of sorts completely in the beginning and then gradually settled down. but why the boos? i mean he plays for PSG. Ribery got cheered by the Paris crowd!
I was wondering that too. I mean about Dhorasoo. Is it because he is seen as a kind of favorite of Domenech who isn't deserving of his prominent role on the national team?

Not a red? Full intention on hurting the player and no desire to go for the ball whatsoever. 100% a red card.

Well, a red wouldn't be absurd, but I think it would have been quite excessive. Watch the follow through - you can tell he lets up, which suggests that he might not have done it intentionally. Of course, he could be being sneaky.
But nevertheless, since the player wasn't injured, I don't see it as very significant.

He lets up because Pardo's leg buckles, he did not let up anywhere

Maybe. Again, I don't think a red would have been ridiculous here. I'm just not surprised it wasn't given. Also dependent on Makelele's behavior previously, even if he hadn't gotten a yellow.

I think the ref is also a bit crap as well. I think he may be South American...
The comentatators mentioned the ref is from Tunisia or Turkey, one of the 2
I don't remember real well, It explains it

...no wonder US has such bad referees and nobody for the WC...this type of play ends up with a player's carreer...but i guess the player has to be injured in order for it to be a red (according to you...being watching too much american football i guess)...you obviously do not know the mechanics of what could happen to your knee if this sort of action takes place had the force being a tiny bit stronger...you could easily see how the knee area feels the power of such force, lucky this guy came out ok, but i know for sure is gonna have ice tonite, if not worse...in simple terms, imagine yourself placing a wooden stick leaning 45 degrees against a wall and then hitting it on the middle, what happens?...maybe you should actually try it and find out for yourself...you are such a fool...i hope this never happens to you because it happened to me twice and it takes months to semi-recover...i am recovering from one as i speak...you are such a fool...can someone show this guy the cuautemoc blanco injury please?...

Looked like he was trying to control the ball with the studs of his boot and shield the ball away from the Mexican. What the hell was he thinking, it was badly timed that one. There was no intent to seriously hurt the player, it was a stupid thing to do, but I don't think he intentionaly set out to crack open the guy's shin.

I think Cisse played good today. He was very active and the goal came from his pass. He's played a lot better than this, but everybody's saying he sucked ?
When Cisse got the ball, he struggled to know what to do with it. The times he did try and work anything into the attack, he ended up skying it back into Dionysien streets... He didn't work the keeper once or seriously threaten the Mexican defence.
Trezeguet sucked donkey balls too.

tottally agreed. He can't cross for shit.Hes legs are ********ed man.Hes just fast. But nothing else is good about him.He can't shoot or pass.
But seriosuly , ribery should defintly start.Him and zidane playing together will be nuts. This guy has potential to be a big star at the wc.I just hope the coach gives him a chance to start.
He also almost scored , if he had made that sweet move in the box and deeked the defender , it would of been a wonderful way to start ur NT career

Looks like France has got their own chiquis garcia in dhorasoo.
What a bad player, he is by far the worst player on the field.
Cisse and trezegol dissapointed, especially the juve guy he was as invisible as borgetti.
And sagnol is world class, he can cross real nice.

Nah he deserves a yellow card, a red card is too much for such a foul

Hey I'm an American, but I like the French squad and thought that it went about as well as could have been expected... The attacking players have to be in-synch with each other... Cisse as everyone else noticed showed he has zero technical ability at all and the cross he sent in that Malouda scored off of was bad too, luck was in that one... Dhorasoo has never impressed me and yesterday I just thought damn he shouldn't never touch the feel again if France is to have any serious shot at the WC... Boumsong is not a very strong defender... The second half changed in my opinion b/c France subbed out the players who were feeding the forwards and couldn't get any real attack going... Ribery, wow I didn't know he was that fast... He could cause some real problems for opposing defenses and once he settles his nerves, he could be a real option for France... I still think they are one of the few teams with a real shot at beating Brazil...

Overall a very interesting game. Sagnol, Abidal, and Malouda played very well. I would have never called up Dhorasoo to the Nats and now he proves his fitness. Mexico needs to play a little more rough and tough and physical imo. They played well but could not finish or attack. France controlled the game.

Salcido? I liked him : fast and good defensive skills, in fact all your defenders were good, they have technical skills and are quite smart. My favourite (except Marquez) is Suarez, he's a very intelligent player. But your goalkeeper was impressive (Sanchez), I loved his aerial saves, really impressive. Too bad you made that mistake on Malouda's goal

our defence was good since only rafa play in europe and plays against higher qualities and the other four play in the mexican league i think our league will grow into something bigger in the future because of its budget and how were handling our youngsters
