Odonkor makes sense. He's a tactical option, nothing more. He won't play (much) anyway, but he could be a weapon for the right side.

Yeah, let's take baby steps with Odonkor here. He's improved his game this year, and his speed is always an asset, but he's no Arjen Robben.
I want a signature .... a schalker who says a borusse is good ... that is a signature worth!! :)

Hey, I'll admit I'm envious of your youngsters (I won't go any farther though... ;) )

Anyways, my signature would be...

To my biggest fan. Keep up the hope, Schalke will win the title eventually and BVB will eventually beat Sigma Olomouc.

I sure hope you're not talking about me. I've seen my share of matches in the Signal Iduna Park this year.

But the for the people of Dortmund, Signal Iduna is the largest private employer of the city. I think you can live with the jobs they provide.

After all this local gossip can we get back to the big issue?

Take it or leave it. Klinsi's decision to name Odonkor is brave, but at least he had the heart to do it. If it works out, many critics will applaud him. Other coaches have done it successfully on different levels although I can't imagine Voeller would have done it. And don't forget that our opponents don't know anything about Odonkor either.

Hmm not 100% right, these days coaches use the experience of players two, and Ebi definately knows Odonkor ... and Poland is our 2nd opponent. plus players from the BL know Odonkor .. sor all squads containing BL Players have a slight knowledge. And thats imho the core of the problem why it became so easy playing against germany: 1. Other countries take advantage of the german discipline (lot of coaches learned here or other countries had german coaches) , then we don't have our athletic advantage anymore, other countries became as fit and strong as german players always where, and third, lot of players play in the BL or german players abroad, so the teammates of a german player knowes their strength and weaknesses, and 4. (but that we know since many years) we are may tactically disciplinned, but we lack the technical abilitys

This is why I love Huth:) : look at this picture of him landing a flying leg drop on his opponent. You might score against Huth, but you're gonna kill yourself doing it.

Robert Huth (21 / 15): Neben Jens Lehmann der einzige Nationalspieler, der sein Geld im Ausland verdient. Schussstarker Abwehrspieler. Beim Confed-Cup machten ihn die Fans zur Kultfigur, was sich in den "Huuuuuuth"-Rufen äußerte.

For the Odonkor haters :

Dafür wurde Odonkor ins Boot geholt. Energischer Antritt des 10,7-Sprinters auf der rechten Bahn. Flanke nach innen, Klose staubt ab. 6:0, das halbe Dutzend ist voll.

he can not pass flanke lol
klinsmann is a retard his whole offensive style will be catastrophic

Biggest source of anger? Nowotny - farking ridiculous!!! the guy is a liability!!!

Biggest surprise/disappointment - Why Odonkor over Trochowski? what does he offer except pace? This is not the World IAAF Meet 2006!!!

Biggest source of joy: Hanke over Kuranyi :)

my expectations after seeing the squad -

Double Bogey: Not getting out of the group

Below par: 2nd place and round of 16

Par: 1st place and round of 16 (if we play Sweden there, i think our chances are 50-50, if England - they are favourites)

Birdie: Quarter Finals by defeating England OR Sweden

Eagle: Semi Finals by defeating Holland (what does the draw throw up here? suffices to say, i have not looked that far - which tells you something about the confidence i have in the squad - or lack, thereof :o )

Hole in One: forget it...

nowotny was quite good latley i think the biggest mistake klinsmann makes is being to offensive with a team like that he should play a defensive strategy just remember greece in 2004

I think Klinsi realised that after the 1-4 Italian rout. So the immediate appointment of Kehl and then Nowotny.

I agree that you can't play offensive all the time. Neither can you play defensive all the time. Klinsi and Co. have to analyse a lot and find the best fit for each and every opponent. He should know much much better than I do that the team should be as positively unpredictable in strategies to his rivals as possible.

you are right sanity seems to prevail see todays ballack interview in der spiegel:

http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/0,1518,417224,00.html

to dm in front of the def ballack being one of them
