I never implied that the low score was Odonkor's fault. My point is that stats are not always a true reflection. 229 crosses is a remarkable number, but it doesn't say anything about the quality of the crosses. It wouldn't be fair to expect any goals from Odonkor at this stage. He certainly has a lot to learn. I just don't think he will get enough time to learn during the WC.
Then say that :)

Biggest source of anger? Nowotny - farking ridiculous!!! the guy is a liability!!!

Biggest surprise/disappointment - Why Odonkor over Trochowski? what does he offer except pace? This is not the World IAAF Meet 2006!!!

Biggest source of joy: Hanke over Kuranyi :)

my expectations after seeing the squad -

Double Bogey: Not getting out of the group

Below par: 2nd place and round of 16

Par: 1st place and round of 16 (if we play Sweden there, i think our chances are 50-50, if England - they are favourites)

Birdie: Quarter Finals by defeating England OR Sweden

Eagle: Semi Finals by defeating Holland (what does the draw throw up here? suffices to say, i have not looked that far - which tells you something about the confidence i have in the squad - or lack, thereof :o )

Hole in One: forget it...

His first name is actually Jens:rolleyes:

Don't be a jerk. He put out this list incredibly fast, while the press conference was still on. This was probably the place you could first read about the squad on the internet. So what if he's got a mistake. All you can do is nitpicking. So double- to you.

That's right, Leverkusen is well represented. I wanted Kiessling though, he's better than Hanke

in the last world cup 2002 were also many Leverkusen players. Well maybe be because of Rudi Völler who comes from Leverkusen. I´m happy Jens managed to be nominated for the squad. I met him few times in Leverkusen. He is pretty nice guy and very motivated for the world cup. He brings experience in this young team.

I´m not worried about our team. It is young team, but they will make it.

We can not change decision of Klinsi. If Klinsi had nominated another players, you would have always found many opponents who don´t agree. There is no
"ideal" 11 for German NT. We need to "work with the material " we have. And we fans can only support our team, not complain about our "not ideal" squad.

I believe in our team.

Enke and Weide are much better goalies atm ..

Then why did Gentenaar play the last games?

...Rudi Völler who comes from Leverkusen.

Well, actually he's from Hanau, but whatever...

Finally someone with a positive attitude. I'm fed up with all those whiners. What's still missing is the usual suspects complaining about Asamoah and Odonkor on the grounds that they are black. They'll show up eventually, no doubt.

yes, from Hanau, but he works for Bayer Leverkusen, he lives here:).
He feels like Leverkusen citizen.

Well when I saw the name Odonkor in the list, I say: hops, "newbie", but maybe he will be one of the surprises. You never know. He seems to be pretty motivated. Let see how he will play. Anyway, he alone is not german team. The important is chemistry, how the team work together. You can have 11 top stars and if they don´t have some chemistry, the team will be not successful. I´m sure Klinsi has reason why he decided for this squad, he believes in this squad. I think we can critize Klinsi after world cup if he is not successful with this team. But to complain before the world cup? It is a bit early. I will support this team!. It is our german NT and they will make it!
If everyone of us complains, don´t believe in our team, how should feel our team our support? OUr support is also important for them. It increase motivation.

Many suprises in the squad.

Hanke picked over Kuranyi. I must say that I am happy. Kuranyi just doesn't have the phyisique to battle it out with the toughest defenders. Hanke might be able to do that. Kuranyi's recent form for Schalke has also been poor.

Hitzlsperger picked? He was average in a below average English club. Then he moved to Stuttgart, and I never heard anything about him, either positive or negative. I think Klinsmann wanted to take some player from his native Bundes- state team to the world cup. Thats the only reason for Hitzlspergers inclusion :D

Then why did Gentenaar play the last games?

Because Weidenfeller is injured.

Of course I know, I just thought you might not, because you derided Klinsmann for not picking an injured Weidenfeller over Kahn, and frankly, I found that to be quite stupid.

Have it your way, then. I'm just glad you're not in charge of these things, or we might have Fromlowitz on the squad. :)

I know he is not a bavarian thats his only redeeming quality :) A Khan that would be a 100% Bavarian would be the hell

For the Odonkor haters :

Dafür wurde Odonkor ins Boot geholt. Energischer Antritt des 10,7-Sprinters auf der rechten Bahn. Flanke nach innen, Klose staubt ab. 6:0, das halbe Dutzend ist voll.

Oh, come on. Don't make a fool of yourself. Sure Odonkor showed some nice displays of his speed, but you can't seriously use that game as an example for anything.

Yeah, let's take baby steps with Odonkor here. He's improved his game this year, and his speed is always an asset, but he's no Arjen Robben.
