Alright, so I just got in touch with someone from MLS concering the area's expansion team and wanted to share some good news with you -- we've been particularly bereft of any news, particularly good news, as of late.
In regards to a question about MLS expansion, this is part of the reply I received:
"In fact, he [Don Garber] has traveled to Philadelphia twice in the last two weeks to meet with potential owners."
Yes!!!

Sounds good to me, although after the Rowan stuff I've learned to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

I can confirm that multiple new investors have popped up. Several Philly news media types say "its coming" but no idea when.
No idea what Garber's meeting produced. Hopefully something good.

-No, the source is someone who works for MLS
-MLS has mentioned Philly several, several times. In fact he mentioned it just last week at the KC Wizards press conference.
-Also, Garber mentioned "the South Jersey" team earlier this year during a ESPN broadcast.
-San Antonio, with their crackdream of a free stadium, attracted several investors. Most notable were the ones that wanted to buy the Wizards (surprise) and move to SA.
-SA didn't work out because the new mayor came in and brought sanity back to the city council (of course the spineless council said the old soccer mayor "made them do it").
So you do not think KC move to San Antonio was a good one?

Since it did not/will not happen, does it matter what I think?

I guess It does to me.......
I thought maybe there was something obviously wrong with the whole plan.
The Alamodome is a pretty cool stadium and the is no other major (there are some minors) in SA beside the Spurs.
As for this not being the place. you can always PM me the answer.

Even though this is a month old, I still found the quotes interesting, and it also disavows plans for a SSS in Chester Co. Most of us on this board tend to think the Rowan plan isn't going to happen, of course...

"The Major League Soccer stadium once proposed for Rowan University isn't quite dead, yet.
But it's not going anywhere right now, either."
“It's not a dead project, but it's on hold in the sense that, without money from the state, we can't go forward,” Rowan spokesman Joe Cardona said Friday.
"Rowan officials still talk with investors intermittently and maintain some hope that a group will see the Rowan site as superior to alternatives. Some soccer watchers in the region believe investors are looking at sites in Chester County, Pa., but county officials there indicated no knowledge of that."

The mayor of Chester didn't deny or confirm the rumors but his apparent knowledge of the inter-workings of MLS tacitly said otherwise. Just saying. It's the classic political response. If something isn't definite - and with more than just one investor interested, it isn't - then a politician could look foolish saying anything about a situation.

Sure Rowan could happen, someone just needs to make up the $100 million shortfall.
But MLS has moved on.
Also I believe Walsh spoke to Chester County officials. The current potential location is within the City of Chester, thats in Delaware County.

Well, if there's no stadium, there isn't going to be a MLS team. MLS can't wait forever for something that may never happen.

I think most of us are happy the Rowan deal didn't work out. No disrespect to the NJ people, I just don't think it woulda worked out. One road in, one road out... just not a good setup.
Those drunken Rowan kids woulda been nice and loud, though...
