Does anyone know if in the weeks leading up the WC that ESPN Classic will be showing classic WC matches?

I was about to reply with "not a darn game", but here we go:
June 8
2002 World Cup 1st Round Classic's Soccer
United States vs Portugal
Suwon, Korea 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
June 8
2002 World Cup Round 2 Classic's Soccer
United States vs Mexico
Jeonju, Korea 4:00 PM-6:00 PM
More like classic USA WC 2002 matches... i.e., the two matches that USAMNT won. All times are Eastern, btw.

Those are the two from 2002 which I replay, through the magic of DVD's, most prominently and most frequently. If ESPN Classic had to limit itself to two matches, those would be the two the public would be most likely to watch.

It's possible they don't have the rights to games they didn't broadcast themselves. Even so, I'd love to see the USA Columbia game.

If they are going to show USA World Cup games, the one I want to see the most is
USA 1 England 0
The biggest World Cup upset of all-time...
Of course, I bet no such tape exists. Even the final of that tournament, Uruguay 2 Brazil 1 does not have a tape survived...

From the 1994 WC, in the USA, at the Rose Bowl? They did broadcast it.
On the whole, I think they'd find the more recent matches to be more compelling, in order to sell the current product, and that's the 2006 World Cup broadcasts.

They just launched ESPN Classic in England; it would be nice if they could just show a few more soccer matches here. Perhaps an ESPN Classic Soccer night every week.

Anybody know where you can buy DVD or tapes of individual games of the US national team?

You're right--there was no film of this game. And only one reporter from the US covering it...and he was only there because he took vacation time and went on his own.

Check out Dave Brett's website (http://www.davebrett.com/International.htm). I don't know if he does straight up sales (he likes to trade), but send him an email.

Yep, it does.
About nine seconds' worth.
The best part though -- Gaetjens' goal.

You know what would be cool? The 1989 World Cup qualifier vs T&T.

Checked out ESPN's UK Classic site http://www.deadgoodsport.co.uk.
looks like mostly soccer documentaries and some UEFA match reruns, along with the usual ESPN junk such as Worlds strongest man, Tony Hawk skating and "The Season"
