Has anyone thought who in the hell we are going to put on the spot if we draw a couple of penalties?

Landon Donovan

Definitely Donovan, but if he is on the field, Eddie Johnson has shown in international competitions he can make plenty of penalty kicks. :D

Someone who obviously doesn't choke. My guess is landon for now, but if he takes his PK's like his corners, we're in trouble.

I would have said Reyna.

if donovan was out for some reason cherundolo, lewis, o'brien, and reyna would be almost sure bets.

It seems his PKs are better than his corners.. I can't remember him ever missing one. Perhaps a San Jose fan might remember a miss in MLS, however..

reyna is the captain and most exprienced and has 3 more testicles than landon

isn't it true that he actually loans one to donovan for world cup games?;)

I just don't see him take them that often, but I think I'd go with Donovan too.

Definitely not Beasley, as his CL miss will haunt him if he has to take one in the WC.

We just don't have a Lampard or Ronaldinho-like PK specialist. Donovan is good enough, I'd assume, but I feel he doesn't have the power these two have. And power is very important and underrated in PK's. If you really really blast it, the keeper ain't stopping it unless it is right at him.

Pretend he's Henry Guitierez or Carlos Llamos for all I care.

The guy never misses a PK.

What about McBride? He's our experienced striker, the World Cup pressure shouldn't get to him. I would go McBride, Reyna, Donovan in that order.

How about Lewis? I don't know how the pressure variable affects him, but he has the most accurate and one of the strongest legs on the roster.

We are the USA, ranked fourth in the world. We will not be awarded any penalties. I am starting a ref conspiracy against the US right now!

Pardon me for being uneducated, but has Reyna ever taken a PK for the US? For anyone? Really, I don't know.

I'm sure he was the go-to guy for his U-17 team.

Amazing that MLS doesn't make this stat easy to find...

LD's good at placement and enough power, as I recall. It seems like he used to get too cute, but now has a weird routine that works for him. He squats down in the penalty arc, when the ref blows his whistle he does a little crossing himself thing and quickly takes it.

Very good procedure if he sticks with it.

Gooch. The opposing keeper will be too busy messing himself to make the save.

Really, though, Lando gets my vote for "most likely to go Roberto Baggio" on a pressure pk. Reyna, Dolo and JOB have got the skills AND the stones.
