I'm watching the mavs and spurs game on abc.Suddenly the scorers table ad board turns to an ad for the CL final! I thought it was nice to see abc/espn promoting the CL final for once.

Did it explain what the CL was in a basic sense--i.e., soccer? Did it list the teams?

I'm guessing that at least 80% of the people watching the game have no clue what the CL is, that's why I'm asking. I doubt an ad board explaining what it is would get them to watch the game, mind you.

After ESPN chose to spend a fair amount of money on bring over the UEFA CL Final in HD on ESPN2HD, ESPN really had no choice but to give it a little bit of a push if there are excess ad space available.

The CL final is always a little bit different than the rest of the CL. ESPN The Magazine and Sports Illustrated have plugged the CL final on ESPN2 in the "what to watch" columns for at least the past 5 years.

Yes, they have indeed. In fact, ESPN The Magazine often pushes the knockout rounds too...

I recall them putting the second leg of Liverpool/Chelsea last year as well.
