Ruud is someone we will miss. We appreciate everything he has done for us, and its sad to see him leave in this manner, but we have to move on, and get over it. It would have been nice to see him retire a Manchester United player, but things dont always end like the story books.

So now, who do we get to replace him? (plz dont say Saha)

A similar player just doesn't exist. It all depends on how Ferguson decides we will play next season.

The only similar player I can think of who is similar to RVN is Crespo but surely we don't want him. Actually I would like that signing.

Torres.

Torres.

Torres' finishing is suspect. The rest of his play is good though. From the reports on sky sports news' "in the papers"

Ruud to Atheletico Madrid for Torres and £14 mil, though im not sure Ruud would want to go to a team that isnt in Europe.

We're not gonna replace him, I think we're gonna change our tactics. Maybe get a striker with some more pace, athleticism and dribbling to go up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Does Torres fit that bill?

keep your hands from the Hunter

He's top goalscorer in Holland with 33 goals in 33 matches.

Torres has a boat load of pace, and can driblle. Can play in that role up top.

Then maybe we're going for him to fit that purpose. I wouldn't complain if we changed to that formation.

rossi is replacing him. pretty obvious no?

you can't run the squad with 4 top strikers - so one's going. like ds said all along.

Ruud will raise a bundle of cash, Rooney is not going to be sold, and Saha is a good 3rd striker.

so given (as i have said all along) that SAF no doubt has to sell to buy the mid you need, expect a clearout with ruud at the top of the list.

with that money, and a some change for silvestre and co, you have the wages and transfer kitty for someone good.

Neither would I, not with the likes of Rooney & Ronaldo supporting in the 3 behind.

Are you MUFC's accountant? If not, please stop saying we will sell Ruud to raise cash. You do not know our siutation. So please drop it.

And no it wasnt obvious that Rossi is the replacement, he does not play as the number 9 in our system.

you are the most heavily indebted club in the league. I don't need to be your accountant to know that.

and incidentally i don't need the permission of "pennismall" to post an opinion if its all the same with you.

Now - as to your thread why on earth will you buy another striker when you have 3 plus Smith?

You need mids - which is why a striker is being sold.

Surely this is obvious even to you.

If a clearout does end up happening in order to finance young, relatively unproven talent, expect the Gl*zer debate to come up anew. We've never been a team that had to sell in order to buy, so if it starts now, people will surely raise eyebrows.

Selling Ruud would leave us with one striker in Saha and several forwards. It is crucial to have at least two strikers if we are to seriously compete in every competition and with Chelsea.

understand what you are saying, but as per the other thread, you've competed without any number 9's in the starting lineup before.

It would be illogical to sell ruud only to buy somone esle, as someone else is most likely to be worse than ruud, plus you'll incur fees and disruption

the only logical football explanation is that you are cutting down in this area of your squad to make room for someone else in another area

or

SAF and RVN have fallen out.

you are the most heavily indebted club in the league. I don't need to be your accountant to know that. That hasnt stopped The young Glazer, David Gill and Fergie from publicly stating that we will have money to spend. You do not know what the clubs plans for the debt are.

and incidentally i don't need the permission of "pennismall" to post an opinion if its all the same with you.So you want to turn this into a slagging match?

Now - as to your thread why on earth will you buy another striker when you have 3 plus Smith?

Surely this is obvious even to you. Because those strikers are not good enough to lead the line at Manchester United. Smith is now a midfielder for us, unless your suggesting move him all along the pitch, not allowing him to settle down into one position.

Surely this is obvious to me? Who the ******** do you think yo are? Go back to the Chelsea board with your hypothetical bullshit.
