Spurs game in doubt after illness

Spurs' crucial game at West Ham is in doubt after seven of their players went down with food poisoning.

Martin Jol's side will clinch the fourth Champions League place if they win at Upton Park, although Arsenal are also still in contention.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson said officials are on their way to the Spurs team hotel, but that the game was still currently scheduled to go ahead.

There is expected be a further update on the situation shortly.

Spurs would seal fourth place with a win, but they will still face an anxious wait to see if they can compete in the Champions League next season.

Even if they finish fourth, Spurs will be replaced by in the competition by Arsenal if they beat Barcelona in the Champions League final on 17 May.

Arsenal's final match Highbury, against Wigan, will go ahead - despite the two north London sides going head-to-head for a Champions League place.

Wow. Talk about keeping the suspense alive....

Spurs game on after illness scare

Martin Jol's side will clinch the fourth Champions League place if they win at Upton Park, although Arsenal may still pip them in the race.

Premier League officials went to the Spurs team hotel to assess the situation before confirming the game would definitely go ahead.

Boss Jol now looks certain to have to field an under-strength team.

How long do you think it will take the Spurs fans to cry "The fix is in! The Premier League wants Arsenal in the Champions League and has arranged with the Champions League, the Pope the Illuminati and Colonel Sanders to hurt our chances!"?

And don't forget the Tri-lateral Commission being in on it too!

I figured maybe this was another desperate attempt by Spurs to manipulate things, as playing later would have given them an advantage to know what Arsenal's result was. I mean, this is the same team that has complained to UEFA about possibly losing the 4th place CL spot to a European champion Arsenal, even though the rules were clearly explained to everyone before the season. Same team also threw out fair play. Seems to be a pattern, so who knows what else they might try?

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

First thing first is lets win our game against Wigan and farewell Highbury on a high note.

Though, good news from Upton Park so far

Hey, with a team like Spurs, that hasn't done anything of note for so long, who knows how desperate someone might get to try to gain some sort of advantage!

That said, looking at the announced lineup, it doesn't look like expected starters are missing, and several who were doubtful are included, so this'll probably just be another excuse Spurs fans can lean on for their team's failures.

Hey, it makes at least as much sense as "Arsenal is behind the match going forward". ;)

The Spurs team is mostly the usuals. Defoe, Carrick, Robinson, Lennon, Davids, etc.

So let's just hope they flub it and we don't!

What do you expect from a couple of conspiratorially minded DC fans? It's in their blood.;)

Admittedly, I had a mental image of Tottenham running around the field today with their white shirts all covered in sick. Schadenfreude!

Hmm I'm torn between pity (dioarhea from food poisoning stings like hell), and unimaginable heights of happiness. First they lose the match then they have to put up with a stingy Anus.:D Man, I'm sick and evil.
