Nice, but it looks like there was a deflection there.

That Djorkaeff goal is sick.

Not the best, but a personal favourite

And a similar one to the Djorkaeff goal, not as classy but considering it was scored by a young defender (Cahill), it's pretty impressive

The best goal ever.

Hands down.

Oh you beat me to it. I have NEVER seen a goal in that likeness before. 2 half volleys to one another in the midst of defenders followed by a scissors kick just on the inside edge of the box. The most unduplicatable goal I have ever seen.

Talking about half-valley, Klinsmann's strike against South Korea in 1994 was my personal favorite. I do not think too many people rated this one. He scoped it up liked a lacrosse player and created his own half valley with a ground ball.

I think Gary Cahills goal is every bit as good as Djourkaeffs if not better.

Because of the significance, the best has to be Maradona's 1986 WC first goal and second goal to England.
But I also like:

The power of Sedoorf's goal with Real.
I love the goal from Ronaldo when he passes through the whole defense in his Barcelona years.
Ronaldhino with Brazil against Venezuela on his first official match.

i guess there are just to many to make a fair decision.

the first and second goals in this video:

The pace of Ronaldo back then was unreal, epsecially compared with todays Ronaldo.

I think context should play some part in defining "best goal ever" which is why Maradona's dribble, Carlos Alberto's 70 WC goal, Van Basten 88 , Bergkamp 98, and the Rivaldo hatrick-bicycle are strong contenders for me.

The thread has gone offcourse. Now, it is beggining to be a collection of beautiful goals. Maradona's dribble is my all-time best.

I never really understood why Carlos Alberto's goal was considered to be so great. It often ended in top 10 all-time goals.

This is one of my favorite goals of all time. 1995 cup winners cup final Arsenal - Real Zaragoza. RZ's first goal scored by Andres Escobar was an awesome 30 yard left footer on the turn. Then deep into injury time, in fact I think it was the 121 st minute and a penalty shootout looming - Nayim, a former Spurs player - lobbed Seaman from waay out on the right side - perhaps about 45 yards out. The ball sailed way up into the floodlights and went in over Seaman.

Absolutely amazing goal. Check out the link, just to hear the commentators reaction.

It wasn't just the goal it was the circumstances. Last minute of cup final. underdogs vs. tournament holders - and the irony of Nayim being a former Spurts player.
