"I'm more excited about this than I was about playing Woodstock!"
Roger Daltrey on performing at the Highbury Farewell

This says it all folks. Roger is proud Gooner.
Who better to close out the old ground than him?

Highbury Highs - written by Roger Daltrey

I've seen children grow
On this field of green
On this field of dreams
The years have passed away
I've stood side by side With London's Pride
We laughed and we cried
We lived another day

To those Highbury Highs under North London skies
Yes we will remember those Highbury Highs
Those Highbury Days and those Highbury ways
Yes we will remember those Highbury Days

From Rocky,Ray and Raddy
To Dennis,Chippy,Paddy
The Rock of Tony Adams
The Joy of Charlie George
Chapman, Graham, Wenger
Yes we will remember
Henry,Bastin,Wright
And those record breaking scores

All those Highbury Highs under North London skies
Yes we will remember those Highbury Highs
Those Highbury Days and those Highbury ways
Yes we will remember those Highbury Days

May those Highbury Highs be with you all your days
May your Highbury Highs last forever

There’s one thing that's certain when they drop the final curtain
Something you can bet your shirt on The Arsenal's here to stay

All those Highbury Highs under North London skies
Yes we will remember those Highbury Highs
Those Highbury Days and those Highbury ways
We will always remember those Highbury..HIGHBURY..Highbury
Highbury..HIGHBURY

Highbury Highs say your final goodbyes
We will always remember those Highbury Highs
Say your final goodbyes to those Highbury Days
WE will always remember those Highbury Days
WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THOSE HIGHBURY DAYS

Awesome interview on ATV! What's the matter with Pete, does he support QPR???

It'll be great to watch this on ATV...Roger's enthusiasm for this is just too cool.

This will be much better than a performance of "My Generation."

"

That, and the fact The Who's manager is the brother of Charlton Athletic's manager! I saw The Who at The Valley back in '74 and '76 - I've always wondered if some Curbishley connection was there even then and had an influence on the venue. Roger - if you read this please enlighten us!

This says it all folks.

Yessir, it sho' nuff do.

Not that it's a competition, but I just gotta share lyrics to the song I was jammin' on for about 2 hours straight today: Highbury Sunshine, by Yeah:

I was nothing but a child
When they took my heart away
Now I stand in single file
Underneath the grey clouds

She has tried to make me hers
And to take my heart away
To relieve me of my cares
And to love me truly

But there’ll never be a girl
Who can take my heart away
From the sight of Charlie George
Lying in the sunshine

I’ve watched them all my life
Those little men in red and white
Now I’ll never leave their sight
Little men in red and white

I love those men in red and white
I love all the men in red and white

I was nothing but a child
When they took my heart away
Now I stand in single file
Underneath the grey skies

I have watched them all my life
Those little men in red and white
Now I’ll never leave their sight
Little men in red and white

I love those men in red and white
I love all the men in red and white

I'm in the Highbury sunshine, Oh Yeah!
I'm in the Highbury sunshine, Oh Yeah!
I'm in the Highbury sunshine, Oh Yeah!
I'm in the Highbury sunshine, Oh Yeah!

I have an MP3 of that song that I'll post up somewhere in the next few days. As far as "Highbury Highs"...

Dude, if there is EVER an MP3 of that available, you can bet your ass I'll put it up somewhere, with a link on this here board!!!

(If someone else doesn't beat me to it!) :p

I LOVE that song. I have it set to one of my videos of my first trip to Highbury, walking around the stadium...it's really cool.

Of course the Who were on record as absolutely hating Woodstock. I think Pete described it as "Love, Peace and Happiness or we'll break your Arms."

LMAO...."come on get happy OR we'll beat the piss out of ya!"

Funny how so many musicians sounded like crap at Woodstock...maybe it was hippism in a commercialised presentation?
A total contradiction.

Yeah, the Dead were so unhappy with their performance, they refused to allow their set to be featured in the film or on the album.
