Yes. Do not slide tackle.

The trickiest thing is that the ball keeps rolling. When dribbling, keep the ball extra close and use only the lightest touches. Also, dribble less and pass more. It is best to practice on such a surface to get used to it.

That sounds like a nightmare. Keep your body in a straight line, up and down, do not lunge, keep the ball on the ground and play it quickly. I'd think it would give an advantage to skilled players. But I'm glad I'm not you.

keep the ball on the ground, unless your used to playing on hard surfaces, the touches might be a bit unpredictable and high. Then again that's how I would play it cuz i have a shiet touch, it might be different with you :)

I used to play on concrete all the time during the winter when i was at school! And my tip is to tell the coach how stupid he is for putting the tryouts on the pavement! And that there is such thing as an astroturf pitch if the grass is unsuitable. If that don't work, wear trousers to make sliding on the floor that little bit less painful when you fall over.

The only other thing I think to add is that blacktop will ruin a soccer ball, so don't bring your good one. I used to practice a lot on tennis courts, which doesn't seem to bother them, but blacktop will tear the skin off the ball (as well as yourself).
Most parking lots are banked so that water runs off towards the catch basins. Be aware that the ball will roll in the same direction so you will need to compensate with your dribble and ground passes.
Watch out for sand that will cause you to lose your footing.
If you are used to trapping with the bottom of your feet, remember that you have 3/4 in. less to trap with because you are wearing sneakers, not studs.

Take it slow. The pace is very fast, so slow it down a bit. Lots of passing, stay away from quick jukes, especially near sand. here is a better idea, PLAY INSIDE, like a gym.

The basketball players have the gym. Our team is in regionals or something so they're still practicing. The girls team though gets it at 5 and then varsity guys get it at 7 till 10... that's one h*ll of a tryouts... I'm j.v.
Yea the sand is a big problem, I keep slipping and after the tryouts I'm like bleeding all over. I wish we would of had it on a field, and guess wut??? It's snowing again!!! So after 2 tryouts, we have another delay... *sigh*
Well thanks all for your tips and keep them coming!!! And wish me luck or pray!!! :)

Tryouts on the pavement... that stinks. It wouldn't be too bad if it was just practice for one day or something. My advice: don't wear cleats.
