R&B Queen Toni Braxton together with the vocal group Il Divo has recorded the official FIFA World Cup 2006 song titled "The Time Of Our Lives". They will perform this song Live before opening the games on 9th June and in halftime of the final game 9th July.

Every four years the world governing body of football, FIFA, grants rights for the creation of the "Official Music" programme for the biggest single event in the world: The FIFA World Cup.

For the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany those rights have been acquired by Syco/SonyBMG. Recognising the fantastic promotion opportunities that are available for the "Official Song" during this years tournament (June 9th - July 9th) multi-million selling Syco artists Il Divo have been invited to perform the beautiful, uplifting ballad "Time Of Our Lives", written by BMG Music song writer Jorgen Elofsson and produced by Steve Mac and would feature the multi-Grammy winning R&B Queen Toni Braxton.

"Time of Our Lives" will be premiered at The Opening Ceremony in Munich on June 9th, which is expected to attract a worldwide TV audience in excess of 1,000,000,000 people (ONE BILLION).

Who cares about the music? Remember when Mariah Carey came out to sing for Michael Jordan's retirement??? Remember the Wizards Jersey she wore as a dress? No one remembers what she sang, but she did look awesome. So will Tony Braxton.

No doubt man. My favorite is when she was singing on new years night a couple months ago wearing an ever sexy outfit on a freezing night.

They should of got Kraftwerk to do it - as well as being German they've alreay done a song about the Tour De France which would be good parctice.

Yes, Kraftwerk would be kind of a natural decision.
But they just made the Expo 2000 jingle.

Grönemeyer is an even decision, his "Bochum" from the eighties is the all-time top selling german language album, his "Mensch" is the topseller of the new millenium. Also the tour with the most spectators in the german speaking part of europe was a Grönmeyer tour and the DVD of that tour was the topselling life performance DVD worldwide. Not to forget, he was the first artist who was invited to do a mtv unplugged session and album in german language.

Not to forget, he played the role of Lt. Werner in germanys international most succesful movie "Das Boot".

And he is named "European Hero" by Time Magazine europe.

Il Divo bigger than Kraftwerk?????

Kraftwerk are the musical pioneers who invented electronic music, Il Divo are a bunch of transvestites and Toni Braxton is a bad female impersonator! You cannot compare them.

Of course, Grönemeyer is absolutely no international act, but simply the biggest german. He tried to publish in english, but he loses his mistery, if he is not using his own language. He is a great composer, a mediocre but unique singer, but simply one of the greatest poets of modern germany. His lyrical use of german language and his style could not be transfered into english. And apart of his love ballads, he has many songs with a very local german political or social background, which simply have no relevance to people from other countries.

I think, that´s the concept behind publishing two official world cup songs. One to show somebody from the host nation, a bit unique, a bit strange and on the other hand one international mainstream piece in the tradition of "one moment in time".

BTW: Kraftwerk is huge. Theresimply would be no sampling, no drummachines, no techno music. Feel free to take a look at http://www.kraftwerk.com for some infos and teasers. Or search for Kraftwerk at
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=kraftwerk&search_type=search_videos&search=Search

There you can find clips from the seventies which where rther upon their time. One of the Kraftwerk members is the inventor of the drummachine and still holds the patents.

Whoever sais Toni Braxtn is international class hasn't been following the R&B game that well. Disappointed with the choices, cause four years ago, I loved the theme song for Korea/Japan, especially when Telemundo played it.

Well anyone who has really followed the R&B Game  as you seem to call it knows what a huge international star Toni Braxton is... don't allow your ignorance cause you to make disrespectful comments about one of the greatest Ladies in the field of R&B. Toni Braxton's RIAA album sales alone stand at over 20 Million with a Worldwide album sales total of over 42 Million! with just 5 commercial albums (that alone is enough to make Toni Braxton not just international class but one of the Top class international acts!). Not to mention that fact that she has had over 16 Top 10 smash hits in the Billboard charts and music charts around the world, including "Un-break My Heart" which was one of the longest running #1s in Billboard History and one of the biggest International Ballads in the world. She has won over 36 Top industry Awards including 6 Grammy awards and the Prestigious "Aretha Franklin" Award for Career Achievement in 2000 for her album “The Heat” which was typified by Top 10 status in over a dozen countries including the U.S., France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Hong Kong, South Africa, Greece, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Israel and Switzerland.
Toni Braxton ’s Tour for her latest album “Libra” became one of the most critically acclaimed tours of the year (2006!).

I suggest next time you get your facts right before passing judgment on an International Star of Toni Braxton calibre

And FYI ! I work in the feild of Entertainment and I am very well aware of the R&B "Game"

Thank You very much for enlightening me Kraftwerk/Grönemeyer :) . What an amazing career it is. I learned a lot from this.
Please also know that I didn't mean nor intend any disrespect to Kraftwerk/ Grönemeyer. I have the greatest respect for all artists and after I read your reply thus looked at the information that is given at www.kraftwerk.com I have nothing but great admiration.

and I agree with you completly with what you have said
