Found this article (http://www.iranfootballonline.com/news.php?nn=236) interesting, if anything, becasue SUM seems it will make a far greater killing than i figured... broadcasting in a bunch of other languages, unless i am reading wrong and it is only Setanta/ other entities which are taking advantage of the diversity of viewers in America....

You are not reading that correctly.
SUM/MLS only bought US English-language TV rights from FIFA.
Setanta bought US and Canadian TV rights in a whole bunch of languages from FIFA's marketing agent Infront. Setanta kept the German-language rights sublicensed some of the others, notably Farsi to Tapesh TV.

why is setanta not sublicensing more foreign language rights, like french and chinese? seems like tv5 and cctv9 would be good places for setanta to sell them to and make some extra money.
