Ok, I know someone here has the inside scoop.

When will ABC/ESPN annouce what games are on their channels.
Believe it or not I'm trying to arrange my work schedule so I can catch specific games but I haven't seen a master schedule yet.
Has one been released?

Also, is ABC really going to interrupt their daytime/evening progrramming to air WC matches? How are they going to handle that?
Is EPSN going to utilize Classic and U for games occuring at the same time?

So many questions.
:D

Here you go:

http://media.espn.com/ESPNToday/2006/Mar_06/cup_sked.htm

Note games are on ESPN and ESPN2 (no Classic, ESPN News, etc.) and ABC only broadcasts on the weekends.

Enjoy the games and take vacations on the 12th, 17th, and 22nd!

ABC games on weekends only.
Simultaneous games at the end of the group stage will be on ESPN/ESPN2.

FIFA and its legal representative will have to take steps to shut that particular website down sooner rather than later.

FIFA has VERY STRICT GUIDELINES for non-licensees of the "World Cup" trademark:

1. A non-licensee CANNOT use the words "World Cup" for any commercial purpose

2. A non-licensee can only use the words "World Cup" in an editorial context that is NOT related to any gambling activity,

3. The editorial content in which the words "World Cup" appear in a media product offered by a non-licensee CANNOT be offered to readers or users for extra cost.

4. A non-licensee CANNOT run gambling-related advertising in conjunction with any editorial content that contains the words "World Cup".

Bottom line: a media outlet cannot directly profit from using the words "World Cup" without paying FIFA a licensing fee for using the trademark.

A legal entity hired by FIFA will start monitoring most soccer-related websites by no later than June 1 for any violation of FIFA trademarks, copyrights, and guidelines for editorial usage of the words "World Cup".

Most of us who have been around since 1994-1995 know what the rules are so we don't have any problems with them.

Sorry all - I have never owned cable TV but I am going to buy the whole set up just for the WC - digital cable, flat screen, DVR - so I don't miss anything and can have some parties this summer.

The big question is - what channels will the matches be on? I want to make sure I order the right package...

That website used the trademarked words "World Cup" in the domain name.

FIFA will NOT let this stand and will take steps to shut that site down, GUARANTEED.

Ollie, calm down. I'm sure FIFA already got your email ratting them out.

You're obviously right. But that said, you would be surprised how big a deal some of these bodies make out of small stuff.

See MLB and a bunch of small-time internet sites in the early part of this decade....

And one of our favorite sources for finding soccer games and highlights banned posting links to the trackers and torrents, supposedly to avoid getting served with possible suits from the EPL and EU.

If you are going High Definition TV you will need ABC HD, ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD. Be careful there are two versions of the ESPN channels the one with HD programming and the one Standard Definition programming. Make sure you get the HD channels if you what to watch the games in HD. ESPN2 HD is the channel that not all providers will have in time for the World Cup.

If you're going with cable, then ESPN2HD is not currently available on Comcast or Time Warner. No ESPN2HD = no high definition for 31 games, 30 of those being in the group stage. You'd only be able to watch those games in standard definition.

The other 33 games are available in HD on either ESPNHD or ABCHD.

These are games that aired at the same date and time, how in the world we will be able to watch them ? assuming you don't have Tivo.....last time in Korea the hispanic channels always had re-play at night but now i don't see that.

Well, Telefutura will have a "match of the day" repeat. Last time around Univision showed extended highlights of the secondary game after the final whistle. Some channels like Setanta and KBS will air the second match delayed -- most people don't have those channels, though.

I suggest you just pick up a TiVo or DVD recorder to get the secondary game. Or wipe the dust off that old VCR?

I am not into replaying a live TV or recording the whole soccer season by clicking on one button, i am a real guy who like reality life so, Tivo doesn't do justice on me.

Hello, does anyone happen to have the German TV schedule? I will be in Germany for the first round. I was thinking about taking a small handheld tv (UHF/VHF) to watch the games while on the train. Does anyone know which German stations will broadcast the games?

Thanks.

ARD, ZDF and RTL. I imagine you can Google and get their schedules.
