but I must add that your story is linked from the ticket section on Arsenal.com.
Anyone know if the whole stadium will be open? or just 40,000? and any news on when tickets go on sale?

That would be a crying shame if this match wasn't sold out. When do you have a chance to see 2 of the most famous clubs in all of football and tons of Arsenal legends???

This match will definitely be sold out. Even one of the blokes at work asked me about getting tickets and he's a Stockport County fan.

Dennis Bergkamp’s Testimonial:
Due to take place before the start of the 2006/07 season. Should any tickets remain after sales to Silver level members, Red level members will be able to purchase them the week commencing 10th July 2006.

How are tickets being allocated? Is there even a remote possibility of getting one?
The match is on my birthday, and he's my favorite player - the whole reason I follow Arsenal.

Sorry mate but I don't think Arsenal will take that into account when it comes to tickets. I think that if its a 40,000 event then red members have no chance of tickets!

Short memory? Tony Adams testimonial tickets went to General Sale.
I'd be shocked if some for Dennis' match don't make it down to Red Members.

I hope your right as my only other chance of going to that game is if I get the job as match day steward.

im desperate for tickets is there a reason that there only going to sell 40,000 tickets rather than open the full gate?

Isn't this the first event in the new stadium? I'm sure not everything will be quite up and running and this will be something like a shakedown cruise. You probably don't want a full house there if the lights fail or something else goes haywire.
It was much the same for the US vs. Holland friendly in '02 in Foxboro when that game was the second event held at the new Pats stadium and large portions of the stadium weren't yet ready for fans.

When we were on the Highbury tour in the fall, I thought they said something about police regulations requiring two partial events to test the facilities before opening up the whole thing. My memory tells me that they had to have an event with 20,000, then one with 40,000, before selling every seat.
Of course my memory must be faulty -- or else plans changed -- because it doesn't sound like there's any 20,000-seat event before the testimonial. But it was a definite government requirement of some sort to limit the first crowd or two.

I think you're right but those regulations probably exist for some of the reasons I suggested in my earlier post.

I think you are correct, I believe Rick said there would be a scrimmage or something of the sort. Attendance capped at 20,000.
Of course, the whole weekend was a blur so don't take my word for it.

The 20,000 event is the fans training day thing, that is confirmed on Arsenal.com

I've got my ticket for this one through Rick. Thanks once again Rick.
Seems as they aren't opening the whole of the stadium which is a bit of a shame really because Dennis Bergkamp deserves it it won't be the official opening of the stadium until the first 60,000 game gets played there will it.
I've asked Rick to see if he could get me tickets for the first ever premiership game there but he says it is highly unlikely which is a real shame because that will be absolutely awesome. But hay we can't have everything.
Also does anyone know what ex Arsenal players are gonna be playing. I'm hoping Tony Adams, Ian Wright, David Seaman, Lee Dixon, Nigel Winterburn and Martin Keown or Steve Bould to name but a few. Ian Wright more than anyone because he is my idol.
