I just haven't seen the ability for Edam to play both ways (though I respect his career stats.)

I'm with you on Feta, K. Starts strong and all, but nasty by the end.

If Wenslydale had been able to make a team in the Priemiership, maybe he'd have shown he had the stuff. But like Port, being a big fish in a small pond doesn't get you in with the cream.

Good input, all, but I'll stick with my linup, with Edam in reserve and maybe Feta as a late-game sub. Not a perfect IX, but able to rise to the top of the table.

The best XI ever must surely be...

Garlick
Sanneh Pope Llamosa Agoos
Olsen Williams Etcheverry Harkes
Moreno Lassiter

Just ask Vasco da Gama.

And forza -- your lot overpaid for Alex Rodriquez by at least $100m

With his German pedigree everyone though Lindberger was a lock to start at striker, but he kept stinking up the joint.

BTW, can we get any further off topic before we get sent to the FFA board?

GK: Paulaner Hefewiezen (I've never been able to finish against one)

D: Beamish---Wheatsheaf---Mackeson's--Guinness
(a heavy back line)

M: Foster's (full of fizz)---Pilsner Urquell (steady Central European talent)--- Bass (combines well with Guinness on overlaps)

F: Kirin Lager (evidence of the up and coming Asian leagues)---Old Peculier (expensive, but can provide an unexpected lift)---Fraoch Heather Ale (talented Scottish starter)

Bench: Moretti (for many reasons), Red Stripe (because every team should have at least one Caribbean player), Upper Canada Rebellion Ale (ditto Canadian), Maes Pilsner (I'd like to be able to work Maes in at least on the bench), Hacker Pschorr (a bit chippy, but...)

Coach: Newcastle Brown (because the best coaches come from Newcastle ;)) or Grolsch (a noted exponent of Total Beer)

GM: Golden Promise (I couldn't pass this one up...)

Physio: Dixe Blackened Voodoo Lager (if he can't get a player back and onto the field...)

Travel Agent: Watney's ("Effing") Red Barrell

Team Chaplain: Old Nick's Barleywine

Mascot: Old Speckled Hen

Cheerleaders (just to throw a bit of America into it): St Pauli Girl, St Pauli Girl Dark, Groslch Summer Blond, Fischer La Belle, Blanche de Chambly, Blanche de Charleroi

oh my god, that bloke before has reverted to saying u saved from speakin german by winning the war single handedly. if there's one thing that pisses me off its when a few narrow minded people from america actually believe movies like saving private rion and U571.

Get a life pal and as it was suggested learn some history from the books, not hollywood actors!!!

With all due respect, could we get back to discussing the relative merits of Broon's starting IX? The piss*ng contest can come afterward (I'd say about 40 minutes in).

Knave, i think the best part is that the troll is the one who is being trolled. I've never seen a troll get so visibly upset, when ppl are just taking the piss out of him.

My vote to keep the thread.

Best eleven footballers eh? hmmmm...

Favre
Stephen Davis
Arrington
R. Lewis
C. Bailey
Rice
Moss
C. Warner
Bettis
Gildon

Of course you didn't specify offense or defense. ;)

What?

So yeah, what's the point of bringing up an old thread?

Closed.
