this is the first time that an Iranian team makes it to the finals in this competition and considering the political environment between Iran and the US and the fact that it has affected academic relations before it would be interesting to see the Iranian team winning the prize and reaction it gets.

Good luck to all and hopefully the best team wins regardless of where they are from.

on related news MIT invited an Iranian team for their massive solar car project.. Iranian team which is the only team from Middle East that produced a car in such class will join other 19 elite teams from around the world to do a team work project to be held in MIT and develop the world's best dual energy source "clean" car... in a time that politicians from both countries doing anything shorter than showing each other the middle finger, academic cooperation is increasing... considering its decline over the past years I think it is a positive move if kept away from politics…

I agree that is a good gesture. I really honestly don't think a problem between the US and Iran would be there if both Govt. tried shutting up and actually tried to get along.

I'm surprised there aren't any North Korean candidates available for the Berkeley Prize.

I missed the episode when they assigned Ben as the official assclown in International news section... well I would have enjoyed crusty more but hey it is not like laughing at Ben is a hard task!

I haven't been around politics forum lately. Is Bulgaria the new Iran?
I thought Iran invented Bulgaria?
