I figured I would start this one now to give us a good week of dialogue. 2:45 EST in the States on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately I think I'm coaching a baseball game that afternoon, unless there is rain. I believe Setanta TV has coverage.
Here's my guess at a Starting XI:
Sully
Crainey - Killa - Butler - Kelly
Lewis - Miller - Bakke (if fit)
Blake - Hulse - Healy
Subs: Bennett, Beckford, Douglas, Stone, Gregan
I guess a lot of it depends on if we go with a 4-4-3 or a 4-5-1.

Although I totally forgot about Derry. He would factor in somewhere.

The tough thing is this, we are not the in-form team at the moment, and that's not judging from just this past Sunday. Hopefully that had a lot to do with fatigue and our guys are well rested now.
One also has to wonder how much precedent Blackie is going to put on experience. Lewis has played in a World Cup, Bakke and Kelly have been in the Champions League, Butler, Derry, and Gregan have all won promotion. Does Blackwell choose experience over the likes of Killgallon? I personally think Killa has played too well this year not to play especially with the support of the home crowd. Maybe Monday at Deepdale will be a different story.

Are you optimistic Captain or not? As much as I want to see Leeds go up, I think we may need another year. I guess I'm not trying to get my hopes up.

I won't be getting much work done this Friday.
My work computer will be on skysports.com for all Friday afternoon, and I will also be doing very little work on Friday. I would be in a much more confident mood if Leeds had done anything positive for the last six weeks. I hope we're over that dry spell.

Well this certainly won't help. It appears Butler is done for the year.

God Bless DVR. I'll have to tape the match and watch it later. Looks like a Internet Blackout will have to be in effect. Oh well, C'mon Boys.

Solid first half for us. Looked a wee bit shaky on set pieces. Can't seem to keep hold of Nugent. Anyway, Killa hit the post and Miller was inches away from scoring. Should have had a penalty in the 4th minute but oh well. We've definitely been controlling the game a bit more than PNE...and have had some good chances. Just have to finish in the second half. Kelly my MOTM so far. Cmon boys!

Lewis for the save. We had quite a few chances that went begging. I'm hoping that when Monday rolls around, we'll in be in the mood to take 'em.

1-1 the final score and that's actually what I thought it would be. We have a pretty tall order ahead of us on Monday.

I'm not happy with the result, but I can't say that unhappy. Leeds has a very good chance of advancing in the second leg in Preston. Nice goal from Steady Eddie.

Nugent's goal was embarrassing. He rolled through 4 defenders on a 50 yard run, and no one really did anything about it. He was surrounded by Leeds players in the box but it was almost as though they were running alongside him rather than trying to stop him. Just terrible. Kelly was the main culprit, but several guys deserved blame there.
There was also a significant problem on set piece marking, particularly early in the first half. On three separate chances, a PNE player came free for a shot in the box on a corner or free kick. Twice it was Nugent, which was just inexplicable.
However, when the play was attractive, it was Leeds making it so. The boys created many chances and played far more positive football. Lewis' free kick was magnificent, and Kilgallon hit the post off of a corner in the first half.
There were also two possible penalties that the referee failed to call - one, when Lewis was brought down in the box, was indeed a penalty IMO. Tripped, no ball, defender went across his body - a classic penalty. The other involved a borderline foul in the box where the PNE defender didn't even look at the ball and just sort of jumped into Kilgallon in the box on a corner - a foul anywhere else on the field, but usually let go in the area.
PNE's defending was physical, and had the referee called a closer match they would have been punished for it. But it worked for the style the center was using, and Leeds, to be fair, were very much missing that cutting edge on their shots and final passes. The boys were much too wasteful with their opportunities.
On to the second leg...it's going to be an uphill battle at Deepdale, but it won't be impossible.
