Agreed,

Not Cheap Crap. Handpainted with a lot of detail.
Something I'll actually keep for a while.
One of the Wizards best promotions.

I saw some people actually taking 6-8 out to their car. They actually bought extra GA tickets just to get more of them. We considered the same thing. Pay $10 bucks for a extra GA - get another bobblehead - sell the "Bobblehead redeemed/cancelled" ticket out front when they're out of MiniTony's to late walkups for $5-$8 bucks. But we felt that was being a bit obsessive and not in the "spirit of the game" and what the promotion was for. Besides, I don't need more than one I got really.

Hope there was not to much of that going on, I carried 5 out to our car but just so we didn't all have to walk back and forth.

We blew a tire in St Joe. on the way down and the guy in Firestone worked like he was in an Indy 500 pit crew to get us a new one since it was 10 minutes to 5 when we pulled in after changing the flat etc. I think they closed at 5. I told the kids they would be out of luck for bobbleheads but when we got there they were still passing out at around 6 so we got lucky. Kids got some nice Strikeforce posters as well. It was a good experience, I just wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive. The flat may have cause me to miss a stop at Gates but we still got the bobbleheads. (On another note is Boyd and Sons BBQ still open?)

The person in front of us bought 12 kids GA tickets so she could get 12 bobbleheads...Im like all shes gonna do is sell em on ebay. My good friend who is probably one of the biggest Meola fans you will meet didnt get one because I imagine a lot of people did that (shes the one who always has the Tony Meola and Nick Garcia posters).

The only problem is that Tony doesn't bobble that much. Its very professionally done and all, but where's the bobbling?

grrrrrrr i know who you are talking about,,, we gave some tickets to some friends and it probably would have made their day to if they got a bobblehead but some people just need to get a life.

My freaking car ran out of gas right on the blue ridge cutoff in front of the stadium. stopped at the amoco, got gas, got the game, and was within the next 10 people in line when it was announced that they were all gone.

Im not sure how to feel about yesterday. We won, buti didnt get "a piece of the action" so to seak (igor jersey, bobblehead)

The lack of bobble is kind of depressing, I looked at the spring they used, and it is pretty short, unlike the one they used on the Carlos Beltran bobble head the royals gave out.

I was there at 5 to get the thing and the lines were pretty long and I was at least a little concerned. but it all paid off in the end. Sorry to all of you who got screwed out of the promo by people who bought 12 GA tickets. I wonder how the number of tickets sold compares to the number of people who were actually at the game?

Ditto on the BobbleheadTony vs. BobbleheadCarlos debate. BobbleheadCarlos wins on every count.

If anybody got any extras that they would like to *donate* to the Mystics' cause for trades with other clubs, I would highly appreciate it.

If you think the Tony bobbleheads are money, you should see the Jenna Jameson bobblehead.

Yeah. I would've loved a Tony bobble. Oh well.

I think the Durham Bulls have the perfect solution against the people that just show up early and take the merchandise and run. They are having 5 bobblehead giveaways this summer, and there are two ways to get the bobbleheads:

1) Buy a 10 game bobble-head miniplan that includes the 5 bobble-head games and coupons good for each of the five. You must show up on the day of the game, though!

2) Show up at the park. The first 5,000 folks through the gate are given one of 5 different colored strips with an outline of the bobblehead. During the 7th inning stretch the mascot (Wool E. Bull) pulls a colored scarf out of a hat. If the color matches your strip, you get to go collect a bobblehead.

That prevents the e-bay scammers from showing up early and walking off with the goods. Plus you've got to stay until at least the seventh inning.

The other alternative is to buy tickets to 10 games.

If you really want one without paying the big bucks on ebay you can go to www.videoage.com and by one there. BTW is the one on ebay atougraphed?

My thought on how to stop the scammers is to simply mandate that there must be one person for every ticket that tries to ge ta bobble head. That way the dick head that buys 20 GA tickets would have to have 19 other people with him just to get the 20 bobble heads.

They sell Tony Meola bobbleheads at videoage.com? ;)

Folks you must remember that normally the giveaways occur once you've entered the stadium through the turnstile counters. Unfortunately after 9/11/01 Arrowhead security is not wanting to allow 5,000 unmarked boxes sitting under seats throughout the crowd. My observation was one person and they probably aquired most all of them legitamately.

I walked up after 6:00pm and was still able to get mine no problem so it wasn't like there was this E-bayer conspiracy element going on that drained the entire supply before fans had a true shot at acquiring one if they wanted. But, people do collect and sell sports memorabilia for profit. Adults send kids up to get baseball and football players to sign jerseys and balls all the time, just so they can sell them at auction or in their store the next day. If something like this were to be "grossly" abused in the future then I could see aggressive measures taken but for what I saw it was:
A) So nice that I was able to take it back to my car and not worry all game about leaving or it or it getting broken or snitched. This actually helped me that I wasn't stuck in the stadium in 100 degree heat with only the grossly inflated concessions at my disposal. In fact it enabled me to by a team shirt instead which is direct to the organization instead of watered down revenue from Volume Services.
B) The process was efficient and they marked-cancelled all the tickets quickly. I was in line like 20 seconds.
C) Wizards organization benefitted in the end with any surplus tix that may have been purchased which is really what the promotions attempt to do anyway. (Usually not at the expence of the true fanbase I know).

If you really wanted one you have to do what you do with every promotion and get there early so as not to miss out. I miss 90% of all the promo's just cause I prefer to tailgate till the last minute at any sporting event.

Long story short = abuse will always find its way into any system. The measures the Wizards staff had in place were adequate for the first time. I'm sure it will evolve some with the threat but hopefully not to the level of becoming a hassle to the casual fan.
