The season's over anyway. Or so it seems by our recent form.

And the players attitudes....but still. I would prefer to finish 10th or 11th than 12th, 13th. Ya know? It just "looks" better!
COYB!

"Out for the season" sounds a bit too dramatic.
After all, there're only 2 games left in the season.

Whatever. It's still technically "the rest of the season", no?

Not to mention it pays better, too.
We're hardly in a position to eschew a few extra thousand pounds in exchange for an extra three weeks off...

Tim can take his time coming back from the injury. That's just one less aerial threat Japan has to worry about. :p

Duh.
My point was that the terminology you used was a bit over-dramatic.

Again, whatever. Would it be "over-dramatic" to say that we may have seen the last of Cahill? If he's fit and does well for Australia at the WC he may be tempted by offers from other clubs.
But, as you say, I'm probably being over-dramatic.

No faith in Nakazawa ey? I agree though.

Neill tips Cahill to play
By Sebastian Hassett
April 28, 2006
AUSTRALIA midfield player Tim Cahill's World Cup outlook has brightened considerably with further diagnosis of his injured knee.
International teammate Lucas Neill said today Cahill was now certain he'll overcome injury in time for the Cup starting on June 9.
Cahill partially tore his posterior cruciate ligament during Everton's match with Birmingham on Saturday and the club's head physio initially forecast a six-week recovery period.
"He is supremely confident he will be okay," Neill told Sydney radio station 2KY from England today.
"The worst fears were that it was going to be six, seven or eight weeks or possibly even worse.
"But he has seen so many knee surgeons in the last few days and all have brought his time down to three or four weeks."
Neill said that Cahill, a former club teammate at Millwall, was an key member of the national team and its World Cup campaign.
"He is very important. We are all going to get two or three weeks rest, but Tim can get a couple of extra considering he has played almost every game this season for Everton," Neill said.
"In saying that, you want to be going in feeling confident about your body and feeling strong about yourself.
"It is not the perfect preparation going into a World Cup, but those extra weeks could be in his favour."

No, he's actually the one central defender who doesn't frighten me. He can only mark one guy, though, and there's still Viduka and others roaming about.
Nakazawa would probably get Viduka, while El Zoro Japones might take Cahill.

Anyone with their ear to the ground heard anything more about Cahill?
I'm starting to get edgy. We can survive without him, but he is one of our best players.
