I have read the thread on the other WC board about ticket transfers for FIFA tix, but I have not heard of anyone's experience regarding the USSF. I see that the transfers are due by May 8, and that the USSF will be following the FIFA guidelines, but I don't see anywhere on the form that asks for the reason for transfer.

Has anyone transfered USSF tix that can enlighten us?

Hello (echos):o ?

Good question but I don't have the answer. I hope there is someone out there who does.

I am having USSF tickets transfered to me. I don't want to be too specific because I don't know who is reading this, but after contacting them it looks like they will go through, and I can say they are being much, much more lenient than FIFA.

They seem to be taking the Sargeant Shultz approach even while notifying people of the FIFA rules.

This is good news. I have tickets to Ghana and the 2nd round, but just had ankle surgery, and recovery is not going as well as planned. I am not sure how it will go if I am still on crutches with a wife and one year old. If I have to transfer tickets because of this it will suck, but I don't want tickets to go to waste.

Sorry, yeah, well, sort of.

My friend (who is the one doing the transfering to me) got an email last week saying that the changes would be made (oddly enough, they sent the same email to about 15 other people whose addresses you could see. I guess after all else, there really is no reason to think they'd know how to use the bcc function).

That isn't really 'official' and theoretically I guess they could still change their mind. I won't be 100% sure until I see the tickets with my name on them, but it's pretty close to a sure thing.

Our situation is this:

Three friends ordered tickets for the Italy and Ghana games, but got wait listed. They applied for the same games in the FIFA Phase III and were awarded the Ghana game.

After waiting around for God knows how long to hear from US Soccer, and realising that they had a week between the other game they got from FIFA (not invlolving the US) and the Ghana game, they made arrangments to go to Coatia for five days (odd decision, I know. I think it was the wife who forced it, though).

So then US Soccer tells them that they got the Italy and Ghana games off the waiting list. That leaves them with tickets they can't use for the Italy game (although one of them cancelled going to Croatia. The one without a wife, as if that needs explaining) and extra tickets for the Ghana game, which they are now transfering to me.

From the US Soccer perspective, I suppose they figure in the case of the Italy game it is tickets going from US supporters to other US supporters, and for the Ghana game it gets more US supporters into the stadium, so they really hav no reason to make it difficult. I would have understood if they had said no and that the tickets would go to the next person on the waiting list. I would have been angry if they had said no and that the tickets would be given back to FIFA.

Anyway, looks like I got 'em!

How long did it take you to get this reply? I faxed them a transfer request the other day and am wondering how long it should take to hear back.

I faxed mine this week also an got a confirmation reply by noon on the same day. Good stuff. I am now officially jealous that I will not be attending.

I am still waiting to hear what the exact process is for transfer of USSF tickets, specifically for those tix that have already been printed with names. Exchange in Germany prior to the matches seems like a mess just waiting to happen. Has anyone heard anything for sure? Is there any USSF transfer process info in the packets that people have received??

BTW, I was in Korea 02 and France 98 and I never witnessed ID checks, lots of bag searches though... In prep for Japan/Korea, much of the same hooplah was made over personalized tickets and it caem to nothing - Checking 50k id's at the gate in a World Cup environment (where at least 20% of the crowd are walking in inebriated) is a whole other story...

And where more than 20% will have tickets from the black market...

This is what the ticket transfer e-mail from USSF says: "Tickets do NOT need to be reprinted after a ticket holder transfer is completed. You will keep and use the original ticket(s) issued to you by U.S. Soccer even if the name on the face of the ticket is different than that of the ticket holder using it. Ticket holder information is linked to the barcode and seat location of each ticket, not by the information imprinted on the ticket. DO NOT destroy or return tickets to U.S. Soccer after placing your ticket holder transfer request."

This, however, seems at odds with recent statments out of Germany that every ticket must have a name that will be checked against an I.D.

I faxed my transfer request in yesterday at 2 pm CST, and received a response early this morning. Very quick turn around time.
